A bowl for New Jersey state teachers to discuss work-life inside and outside the classroom.

Just learned yesterday that my district is RIFing. I’m a first year there.... so anyone have ideas for who is hiring in NJ? Or alternative career paths for educators?

I asked this to the larger group, but am particularly curious within NJ- do you feel that your school best serves their low income and minority students? If so, what is working for you?

Anyone have information on how I can integrate the writing process in a middle school math classroom? I find my students struggle with answering word problems beyond one sentence.

Shout out to all the elementary school teachers! 😂 My friend who teaches 2nd grade sent me this. They drive her crazy sometimes, but she loves them to death.

We just started having a cap on tuition reimbursement and the money is already used for the entire school year. Is this normal for a district with a cap? Or is ours too low?

2015 $85/month towards health ins. 2019 $622/month. It’s sad that in a profession that requires a college education our take home decreases over time. Thanks NJ. Can’t wait to find a new career!!!

What type of professional development does your district offer its staff? Is it more curriculum, social/emotional, data, trauma, etc. based?

Am I the only one frustrated w what’s going on w the state and what’s been taken away. It’s as if I’m taking home less than I did 5 years ago and on paper I’m technically making more. It’s sad.
