What’s Morgan Stanley’s paternity leave policy? 6 weeks?

What are the benefits of American Express platinum versus all the other American Express cards? Do you get any additional benefit for that 700 a year in membership dues?

I’ve always contributed to a Roth 401k since I started working but I’m starting to reevaluate now since my husband and I are in the second highest tax bracket. At what point is it worth it to contribute to the traditional 401k over Roth? 

How much do you contribute to your 401K? I’m 24 and have a separate IRA, plus some mutual fund accounts, and while I want to contribute to my 401K at my new job the extra money that would be taken out could go to one of the accounts I already have plus my new living expenses. What would you suggest in this situation ?

🐠 I need your help. Just got an offer over the phone and I will need to call them tomorrow to negotiate the details. They emailed me saying the salary is “higher than 60k” but over the phone they mentioned they might be able to go up to 70k. Should I start asking for 70k (I will be making 65k at my current firm next year)? Any particular benefits I should consider negotiating/ asking about? TIA!

Hi everyone, looking at CRM options for a PE focused on small/mid cap market. Any experiences? Good value for money options? We are currently mainly focused on automating comms for proprietary sourcing and managing intermediaries but other elements (fundraising, reporting) would be great benefits too. Need to balance costs and functionality (would start with a cheaper option and then upgrade over time?). Thanks for sharing your insights!

I suppose those of us in finance at big employers have to preclear personal trading/investment. Couple questions:
1. What’s your holding period? ie if I buy something then I can’t sell it for profit after 60 days (looks like cutting loss before 60 days is fine)
2. Is there a way to automate our investments to any extent? Every month my 401k contribution is automatically invested in firm-approved funds but I haven’t set up my brokerage account to do the same due to preclearance

I received an offer from a quant fund. My offer letter doesn’t explicitly state my role/position, it is nyc based, and that it’s full time. It also doesn’t provide benefits breakdown, just a blanket statement that I’m eligible. I’ve spoken to the recruiter about these items, but general response is that this is standard for the company. To me this is all very strange and I feel it should be defined more. Does this sound normal to others? Can’t tell if i should push on this more or leave it.

I receive RSU every year and a portion vests every year. What is the best way to manage the tax implications on these? I tried moving it to 401k to avoid taxes but was told I could not do that. What do most people do with these?

I’m 29 years old, project manager in the construction industry, living in Toronto. I make roughly 80k with decent benefits..company vehicle, gas card, cell phone. I hate my job, I hate the industry. I want to go back to uni to get a bcom in hopes of getting a job in finance. So my question..has anybody out here had or heard of a similar situation? Any advice?

Manage $10 million+ in equity l/s structure with 1/3 of the 20% performance fee and a 100k base unattached to large/reputable org or stay at stable FO job making 70k with full benefits and clear career trajectory? Thoughts? 24YO F

Dyscalculia-c here, so request no judgement on question. If I have 10k in 401kA and 20kin 401k2 , will I make more in growth if I combine them into a single 401k? A friend was trying to push this logic but it’s beyond me.

Retirement question: Currently 23 and will max my 401k ($19,500) but wondering if Roth or traditional is best here? Currently 24% tax bracket, so with a Roth I will be taxed upfront $4680, but if I go traditional I will additionally put $4680 to work in a traditional IRA (essentially either way I will be committing $24,180 to retirement yearly). In this case, would a Roth or traditional be a better choice? I feel more invested early to compound is important, but will taxes be exuberant in 40yrs?

Hi all, I have a question regarding retirement accounts. I am not sure if I should choose a Roth or 401k (company has 4+2% match). Currently 23, base salary is ~100k and investments have brought 45k this year which has me teetering between a 22-24% tax bracket. Wondering what the usual tax bracket is of people retired (around 65yo) as I’m not sure anything would bring in significant income with the exception of investments. In my case would a Roth make sense? Appreciate any answers!!

Question re benefits: we used to get a daily stipend to get lunch in the office from GrubHub, but now we're all perm wfh. Still get the emails for GrubHub though, should I ask about using at home?
