What is the partner process like at McK and BCG? Do they still get equity and pension like PwC? I am thinking about switching but it seems harder. I am just a Senior Associate.

Okaaaay 🐠 need some opinions on this. I turned down B4 to come to Google (at a smaller salary admittedly). The partner from the B4 reached out to me with a pretty significant offer, I know him personally as we worked together at my old company which has its benefits.. Offered M1, $160k base, $10k sign on, and 20% bonus. Currently at $115k base, 30k/yr in RSU and 15% bonus. I’m a PgM at Google and still a consultant by definition, figure I’ll be in consulting for the long run. Thoughts on this?

What is the best way to estimate take home pay for a partner? Apologies if this is a duplicative question, but I did search. It seems very difficult to determine when taking into account the loan repayment of the buy in and other expenses (i.e., health insurance). I am comparing equity partnerships vs. MD positions in the short term.

My partner is interviewing at Deloitte (healthcare team). Any pointers on how to respond to ‘why Deloitte’ question? I feel like all Big Four are almost the same for outsiders and you need to join first to evaluate the ‘people and culture’ fit.

I have an offer to become a season ticket holder for the 76ers. These tickets are floor seats.

They’re quite expensive but they come with great benefits. These seats include unlimited food and alcohol.

I’ve been trying to get a hold on these for a couple years and some just came available.

The base salaries offered are the same.

~ 2 YOE, want to be a career consultant to become a Partner, which firm offers the best pathway (i.e. growth, both personal and firm), benefits in the long-term and exit around EM level (to MBB). No particular interest in one sector yet.

Does anyone here have any guidance or experience in moving from big pharma to VC-backed biotech/ med-tech/ next gen healthcare companies on the west coast? TIA

Now I am looking for something more exciting, with more ownership, more nimble and of course the equity upside. (Ps If you don’t have anything valuable to add, it is better to hold off on your opinion)

What is the best gift you got as a new parent? A coworker just had his first kid and went on paternity leave. I just started with the team but offered to send him a gift. Partner is paying for the gift. I don’t have kids and have no idea what would be helpful either now or once he comes back to work as a new parent. Appreciate any ideas!

I’ve had issues since high school, but just formally got diagnosed with ADHD. I’ve always managed to get by okay at work (I’m no super star), but remote meetings have been really difficult for me and I now feel like I’m barely hanging on. Trying meds now, but no benefits yet. Looking for some advice. Currently contributing 10% to 401k and maxing out Roth IRA, and remainder of savings (usually $800-$1200 per month) putting in a HYSA for a down payment on a house. Hoping to buy in 2-3 years once we (partner & I) have a sizable down payment. Hey fish, I’m coming up on a year post PhD and this job has drained a lot out of me. There’s not a lot I enjoy: overpromising partners, annoying clients, endless iterations (from either client or partner), poorly scoped KOL interviews, long hours… The only reason I haven’t quit is the US healthcare system’s reliance on employer provided insurance. Where can I go with ~1YOE post PhD? It feels like nearly every job requires a lot more and I just don’t have it in me to push through another 1-2y…

@PwC partners - two unrelated questions:

1) partner pension - I heard they are changing the formula. Can you elaborate on what the change is and if you feel it hurts new partners?

2) partner buy in - what is the actual buy in $ amount? I've heard $250k but wanted to confirm.

Live in the bay area and have a net worth of ~600K. This does include our house and 401K's. Both my partner and I are in our early 30's and I am unsure if we are making enough that it makes sense to live here. Our combined HHI is only ~260k. We both do not have any RSUs.

Anyone in a similar situation and addressing the issue of potentially moving to somewhere more affordable like Texas? Feel like I am not keeping up with the pace of career progression and net worth in the bay area.

Is it appropriate to ask about the comp/benefits the partner group makes at a regional consultancy I’m interviewing with (top 30)? At B4 I know I’d start around 300k in my practice, great pension, etc. Obviously it depends on growth of the firm (300mil rev last year, projecting 1B by 2026) but I’m just not sure how to go about it. I’m already a senior manager so just don’t want to join somewhere with not much room for growth even if I do join partnership.

I am currently facing the following dilemma.. I have gotten job offer for entry level Salesforce position ( role) at a Salesforce partner.
At my current consultancy, I finally landed a good project/role, using AWS cloud.
Have been there for 1 month, and so far, so good, The client company is great ,
The team is great..I will be working closely with both the scrum master and architect( both roles I aspire to)..
Both positions $$ the same, benefits same.

New Partner. My other partners want to change benefits and perks around to attract more young talent - I need to brainstorm ideas. What great thing does a company offer that makes you want to work there (besides compensation obviously)?

This year my partner and I are contributing the max to our non-deductible traditional IRAs, I’m maxing out my 401K and HSA, and am in the process of mega back door hopefully to the max allowed. My partner does not have a 401k plan at work and is investing in crypto. What else can/should we be doing besides paying off the mortgage? No other debts and have 3/4 years of child tuition already paid for. We are mid 40s and together we are over the threshold for roth ira contributions.

Mid-level associate at a mid-size regional insurance defense firm practicing coverage litigation. Salary is capped b/c my firm only does I.D./coverage and has no direct-hire comm clients. Second round of interviews with a comm lit boutique where I would be the only associate with 5 partners. Other than partner track, salary/benefits, and switching from coverage to general comm lit, what qualities of the move should I be thinking about as I weigh my options? I've never worked at another firm.

My partner’s mom is almost 60. She has no retirement savings aside from about $50k in cold hard cash. No 401k, IRA, or stocks. What’s the best thing we can do to have that money work for her for the next 5 years until she can hopefully stop working? Is there any hope for us or will my partner and I end up supporting her?

Feel slightly concerned by our mortgage. Does anyone else have this issue? It is about 17% of our annual gross income but more like 35% of our net income, my partner and I both max out our 401k contributions and are able to still save a little every month but that will be tricky when we have kids. For context, we bought right before the pandemic, minimal updates needed, house is in Fairfax county.

New partners in big 4: do you think big 4 partnership is still worth it now that many big 4 firms are no longer offering lifetime pensions? How did you decide whether to stay or leave? And is there an ideal time to leave (like as a director vs. 1st year partner vs 5th year partner) based on vesting of benefits, exit opportunities, etc?

After you make partner you have to pay your own insurance. Partners with spouses that do not have company provided insurance (mine is a 1099 employee, for example): how much are you paying per month for family health insurance? Any tips here?

I am a 5y SM at B4 and exploring options between industry, tier2 or MBB. One thing I am not clear about is how the pensions work at MBB after u retire as a partner for 10-15 years with the firm. Is the pension structure similar to B4? Honestly, I have not found any other career that has a better pensions as compared to B4. Is MBB or tier 2 firms have comparable pensions? Thanks.

Has anyone tried therapy in their second language? Is this a bad idea? I live abroad and speak the language fluently (I would say business professional) but don't really use it for emotional conversations as a lot of my friends and my partner speak English. I can't find an English speaking therapist here that is covered on my health insurance.
