Utilization Rate

I need a change so badly I’m on the verge of tears almost every day. I’ve invested so much preparing for this career. I know I have so much talent that’s not being utilized. I feel stifled and stuck. I don’t need the health insurance but I’m terrified of giving up financial security. Any suggestions in NH for a sp ed with a MS in ed tech integration and a CAGS in Ed leadership. I am driven by identifying systems and creative problem solving and also have a background in art & design.

What would you do if you were me ? I have job hopped an insane amount. Finally landed in more of a tax advisory role at the big four (been here for 7 months). I’m def the weakest link, low utilization . I reach out for work,but nothing. January I have been told I’ll be loaned out for tax compliance/returns. Should I keep reaching out for work or just chill until January ?

Its been 2 months since I joined and my utilization is just 50%. Also my manager makes sure that every mistake of mine is highlighted via an email. IS this usual for a new hire or am i in for a difficult ride?

Hi fishes.. i have joined ey gds in august. On the 2nd week of joining i got allocated to a project(100% utilization) its been 3 months, the project did not kickstart.. had few meetings but no work at all. I have been doing couple of certificates though. Can i be in trouble for this? Will job security be affected?

What should I do? Should I be worried? I am currently in tax advisory. I’d say over 1/2 of us have not been at utilization % the leaders wants us to be at. Just seems across the board billable hours are down. Some of us are getting loaned out to the tax compliance team. Yet our group is still hiring folks?! I feel as if partners/senior managers are just unhappy with the talent they do have and are fishing for better. Am I way off?

If people at A&M are regularly pulling 80-100% bonuses, I imagine you’d need to have utilization around 100% throughout the year or more if you take vacations. Is that practical? Like is there enough work to bill so much?

I am looking to break our of a bedside role into a remote nursing/Healthcare related role in the DC/MD/VA area. Most job opportunities I see are for case management and utilization review but I don't have any experience. Does anyone have any advice or job leads?

My utilization went to 50 in IBM, I think I have taken paternal leave since it went down. My manager put my as PIP improvement goal in checkpoint.

Welcome everyone! I’m so happy this is being utilized. A little background on me, I got my Bachelor’s when I was 20 and immediately went into both Child & Adult Protection careers. I then worked as a crisis counselor and a behavioral health specialist, and now I’m 26 at Monroe Plan for Medical Care working on expanding our Health Home Program into a new county where I’m our only employee!! My goals are to grow financially so that I can give back to our underserved populations even more.

I have recently joined Cognizant and was taken into project the very next day. However, The billability is heing shown as 'NO' in ESA Assignments. My Manager though is asking to select 'Yes' while applying Time sheet.
Is there is any way to find out overall utilization percent from joining ?
If I am not billed and being asked to work as non-billable should I be worried about layoffs,recession .
I won't be eligible for 22 rating and upcoming April hikes too as I have joined in Oct.

New to consulting… what counts as utilization? I’m on my first project tomorrow. I need to get as many hours as I can to go towards my utilization, but does it have to be client-related for all 8 hours (or more) per day?

I've never been on the bench and I hear people that go months without a project. Thoughts on purposefully not being billable till the new year? I have great utilization already and great performance reviews.

I joined EY a year ago as a senior and am very fed up with my group. I work on short-term projects with very scrutinized budgets, yet my utilization is supposed to be 100%, so my hours are scrutinized by the teams I work with and leadership. It feels like it's all they care about. Has anyone moved firms due to such reason?

Hello 🐟, I currently work in IAM but I've been unfulfilled mainly because I've been on the bench and my consulting muscles are not being utilized. I can't move because I'm early career and more experience is needed. So, as you can understand it's a rock and hard place to be. What is a good way to get out of this slump? I'm interested in cloud & thinking about a transition as well. But I feel like I'm losing relevancy & would appreciate advice to step up my game & land a new gig.

What’s utilization? Saw it in the young consultants bowl… do some firms track that on a personal level? What do they use the metric for? Our profit sharing is based on firm utilization, but never heard of it being tracked on an individual level…

Joined Big4 consulting 11 months ago, was promoted to Senior last month, but feeling frustrated & underworked on a project I'm staffed FT since Aug. I'm an experienced hire at 27, so I want to be more active on engagements to be able to advance. Can't roll off as partner said there are no backfills & utilization targets to meet. I frequently ask project leads for more tasks but rarely receive any responses, so I occasionally reach out to my previous EM to work with them in a limited capacity.
