Big law to a PI firm - does anyone have any experience making this move? Has anyone here left big law and come to regret it?

I’ve toyed with the idea of doing PI for years, and I’ve been interviewing with a multi-office, semi-volume-oriented PI firm. But it’s daunting. The initial pay won’t be nearly as much and that my exit options will be more limited once I leave.

That said, I don’t think my exit options as a litigator will be all that great if I go on to be a senior associate at my firm.

Currently working in audit and considering applying for FDD/TAS roles after busy season. I’d have 1.5 years of experience and on track for senior promotion in the summer. Would I have a shot at senior associate roles for FDD before I get promoted in audit? Job ads usually say 2-3 min years experience but wondering how strict that rule is

I’m interviewing for BCG in a couple months. I have almost 2 YOE at a boutique operations consulting firm and have promo’d twice to manager (🐠 title not updated yet). What level would I come into BCG at - would I have a chance at senior associate or is it more likely to be entry level undergrad role?

I have an interview for a senior associate role at an investment firm. However, I believe I am under qualified based of my YOE (1.5) because they are asking for a minimum of 3. Should I mention I am open to an associate role, or try to sell myself for the senior role? Thanks for the help!

Backstory: I gave a high salary range for a company I was interviewing with and during negotiation they couldn’t hit it at the senior associate band so they offered a manager title instead. I turned it down because I thought it’d be foolish and short sighted to take a role like that so early in my career. Interested in hearing other thoughts and personal experiences!

Currently at v10. Work is great, but its a specialist group, def not a revenue center for the firm. My billing rate is super high. little junior support. Zero mentorship. Basically a billing machine. I interviewed with kpmg for a senior associate position. They waited until the offer to tell me that they see me best as an associate. Which would be a step back in my career and even less money than we talked about. The job posting says minimum of 3 years and I have 4. Don’t understand why they like to waste people’s time like this.

Got an interview with KPMG for senior associate - financial services. Most of my previous consulting work has been with technology and health care companies. Currently interviewing with a couple startups, one late stage and one emerging. Comp is roughly the same give or take 5%. Early stage is leadership role for a new division, late stage is senior associate. What are some things to consider with evaluating the offers and organizations themselves?

To all new hires that came into KPMG with experience, I wanted to ask how much were you able to negotiate from the initial offer in terms of %? If you were a high performer in the interview that would be helpful as well. Running into a case where the initial offer is lower than market average but it’s on the high side of the salary band for the position. It’s a senior associate position and it’s an engineering role.
