I want to step down from the managerial and client facing role and pitch/do the work myself. Is that possible? (Anyone here remember who Bob Barrie was?)

Given the outbreak, are places actually going to be hiring right now? Recently laid off from 9-5 and my freelance is starting to fizzle.

I’m not as passionate about my role as an AAE as when I first started and it’s a couple months before my 1 year. I’m really thinking of making a switch in roles after, but I obviously want to maintain the mindset at excelling at my current role so that I leave on a good note. Any advise on how to let my supervisors know that I’m thinking of leaving? Definitely looking to make a change by the end of the year. I’m a people pleaser and it’s my first job out of college so just stressed the approach

Help. Laid off and need a new gig but from what I see everyone is in a hiring freeze. I’m truly scared I’ll be out of work for a solid 6 months given everything. Is anyone still hiring out there??

Our agency's ambitions require every hire to be a unicorn. We're not big believers in developing the army you have and putting them in the best position to succeed despite their flaws. Is this common?

Took a new gig for a promotion and a raise. Was sold on a position that is completely different than in reality. I hate it three months in and I am miserable. Would it be unprofessional to leave?

Rant. Screening freelancers. It’s clear folks don’t know rates based on level. Role is jr, why apply if your rate is $5k/week ~ $250k annual? Hope the spreadsheet helps, I’m all for transparency!

What’s the best way to resign respectfully despite having a toxic boss/team? Process? Who to tell first (hr vs boss)? How to position your reasoning? Is 3 weeks notice the unwritten rule? Dreading it!

Considering a relocation from NYC to Chicago... any major things to know? Or any agencies actively hiring strategy roles there? (4 years experience) many thanks and cheers

Pre-COVID you were promised a raise to come in June to accompany the smaller raise and promotion you got in January. Now, your company is like every other company - combating layoffs and going through raise and hiring freezes; which makes the opportunity for that raise look pretty impossible. The thing is, the job you’re doing is at least two levels above what your promotion brought you to and you feel like you’re doing twice the work for half the pay. What do you do?

I’ve been trying to get into an agency in a larger market for some time, obviously not a reality at this moment in time. But, now that I’m unemployed and my lease is up come the end of May, should I try and move to a bigger market in the next few month? Get a non-advertising job to hold me over until hiring picks back up.

If your agency is not diverse, these are some reasons why: • Internships (either hosting interns, or using internships as a prerequisite) • Degree requirements (either mandating a degree, or hiring based on any unrelated degree just for the sake of having one) • Only young, white recruiters (especially those without bias training)

I feel burnt out and want to leave my job (have felt this for months now) but right now probably isn’t a good time to do that. Since my agency had layoffs, they are expecting me to take on a lot of the work left behind. Any advice or suggestions on keeping my sanity? I feel suffocated staying in my current role and want to cry at the thought of doing more work for the agency. I feel like I have no choice unless I’m willing to be unemployed :(

I know interview test helps the hiring manger get an idea of how and where candidates would fit in. But this agency I applied, asked for 3 typography layout (business card), 3 KVs. Isn't it too much?

I’m, technically, a Jr but being paid as a Mid because I had a great mentor who believed in me. I’m now moving on to an actual Mid role but have no idea if I should ask for a higher salary because if I do, I’ll basically be asking for close to a Sr Creative’s salary. At the same time, I don’t want to seem like I can be taken advantage of or a pushover if I don’t ask for more. Any advice on how I can navigate this?

After 1.5 years of being an assistant planner, I’m being asked to interview for the same role on another team within the same company or be furloughed. Is it crazy to ask for higher compensation or just take what I can get and be happy that I’m working ?

So I graduated in March. Still jobless. People tell me not to worry, that no one is hiring right now. But I see people who graduated getting jobs (and at really good places). I don’t know what to do. I’m conflicted to reach out to recruiters because I know they’re probably busy, but at the same time I don’t want to wait too long...
