I spent the first few years out of school working in music before getting into advertising as an account person. Quickly realized it wasn’t for me. Busted my ass working with the creatives on the side until I was able to build a decent enough portfolio for an agency to take a chance on me as a full time CW. I think I’ll be a Senior CW soon, but it feels like most folks my age (30) have been in that role for a bit or already past it. Since I can’t turn back time, any tips for catching up?

I'm up for a pharma agency senior CW role in the Rx/HCP vertical. I have been freelancing for 11 years, so mostly contract rates between $50 and $80 p/h (lower end on W2, higher 1099). They want to know my 1099 rate and salary requirements if full-time employee. Would $75 hourly and $110K be within range? They are in Philadelphia. I have been working in the Chicago, San Fran, and NYC markets mostly.

Potentially looking for a CW partner for a first time CD role in NYC at a good award winning agency that is getting better and better. NYC or willing to relocate (eventually). If interested, send me a message with your book and I’ll share mine!

Is it impossible for me to get my start in advertising if I'm not part of MAIP (I'm a POC)? I've been looking for a position since March, and I saw recently a lot of MAIP creative interns have been hired fulltime at their respective internship. Is it hopeless for me? Yes, I have a portfolio if anyone is hiring for a Jr CW position.

Is AKQA actually looking for a copywriter? They keep posting a job on LinkedIn, but when I applied it said the position had already been filled.

A wonderful friend recommended me to a recruiter, when the recruiter was looking to place a creative.
This role is at a small agency, I’m going to be paired with a Sr. Copywriter. They’re looking for a conceptual thinker and brilliant designer, no pressure.
I have some internships and some freelance under my belt since graduating portfolio school, and a current laptop that’s running on fumes ha.
I’m intimidated, cautious, yet super grateful to finally hear from someone.

Also, when hiring one, how much weight does boutique/small agency vs. large agency experience have on your decision?

I like doing research, not executions.

I’ve been working as a copywriter for almost a year. I enjoy diving deep into consumer behaviour, read research articles, and find insights. It is already a part of my job as a copywriter at the agency I am currently at. But I barely get the chance to do it right.

Is there a different position I should be aiming for? Or is this a phase that all the copywriters go through?

I don't know if this is a recent change but I’m seeing postings for junior copywriter/community manager roles. Have these roles always been attached or posted at a junior level? Is this merged role worth considering as someone young in the industry with more traditional intern and freelance copy experience.

How much for a copywriter position at ICF in DC. Req says 3 years of experience but the candidate has 5 (non consulting)

New to the industry and wondering what a typical Pharma Copywriter does in their role. A bit concerned about the lack of actual copywriting I'm doing so far.

As a copywriter with a solid strategic agency background: What’s the best way to find my niche? In-house? Deloitte digital? Regular agency? As I evolve into a senior role, I’m not sure how to leverage this. My two fortes are: Storytelling/scripts, headlines, and conceptual planning.

The former means we are going to pay you at a Sr copywriter rate. The latter says we are going to pay you at an ACD rate. Former says you will grow into this role. Latter says you are this role.

Random question. But has anyone here transitioned to a strategist from a creative role? Would being a copywriter benefit someone who’s trying to get into the strategy scene? Any tips appreciated!

Looking for a Copywriter for prominent beer brand. This role is primarily responsible for social media content, collaborations with our partners (sports, music, fashion) and earned media opportunities. But will 100% also work on bigger campaign ideas, script writing, video development, OOH.

Interviewing for an AD/CW team with my significant other....but the agency doesn’t know we’re dating yet and we originally didn’t know the jobs were for a team role. We work well together but are curious if this is allowed? When should we tell them we’re dating? Lol
