How are the AWS data scientist positions different from Amazon's e-commerce data scientist positions? Purely based on job description, the former seems a bit of a sales and implementation role. So would like some thoughts on any fish who have an idea.

Anyone knows how the coding interviews levels are compared to each other across Adobe, Amazon, Facebook, LinkedIn, Microsoft and Google for a data scientist role? Any insights?

Hi I am currently working as senior research analyst. I am considering to learn big data tools and move on to data scientist kind of role. Can someone let me know which are the major tools that are expected from people moving from research background to analytical background. I need this to take up learning course accordingly. I have been thinking about R and tabelue. Pls let me know if I can learn something that is most demanded in the industry.

I'm a data scientist interested in tech, ai/ml, and data science for social good, public sector issues, and etc. Comp is a high priority along with WLB and prestige/exit ops. What companies should I consider?

I have been doing research on companies that meet my criteria. AWS (which has a significant public sector practice and does ml consulting work) tops my list. Palantir is on it too, but it doesn't focus on AI/ML. Aside from that, seems like there are slim pickings. So Im looking for input!

3 YOE w/ non MBA STEM masters + deep knowledge in a specific industry (w/ publications, etc). I have had recruiters and headhunters reaching out for everything from:
- FAANG BA (generalist)
- VC associate (generalist)
- director level roles at startups/ digital arms of F500 companies
- data scientist roles at hedge funds and F100 companies

What should an exit with this level of experience look like? I'm a bit surprised at the wide range of options and roles - some seem to be a bit of a stretch.

I’m currently in the Expert path for data science at McK. Thoughts on the switch to “Data Science, Analytics” role at Facebook? Curious about the difference in earning potential and work life balance! (And yes I know the data scientist position at Facebook isn’t real data science - whereas what I’m doing at McK is)

Any insights/opinions/advice would be super helpful! Just trying to plan for my future :)

How hard is it to transition from data architect to data scientist? Either internally in terms of personal brand or externally in terms of exit opportunities.

I understand there’s good overlap, and DS is particularly ill-defined, but are there any reasons one might choose one over the other? It seems like architect is more computer science, and data scientist is more around math. What do you think?

Got an offer for a fully remote data scientist position at a series F startup, I live in the DC area and have 3 years of experience without a MS but this position aligns perfectly with my expertise. Having my final interview for a data scientist position soon. The job (other than coding) is to help them build their DS team. The interviewers will be the head of research and a VP, and the interview will be a “competency test”. How do I make myself sound more mature? Or any other tips? It “helped” get me in at Accenture... (a year this August) but not doing anything near what I studied or interested in. Any advice on transitioning within Accenture as well?
