Has anyone made the switch from in house to an agency after 10 years (or more) of experience? How realistic is it to secure an Account Supervisor position with a medium to large sized firm?

I've worked in the web/content/social space with nonprofits and a tech org, but I feel like I could use more experience building comprehensive marcom plans. The ultimate goal is to help lead an association or nonprofit shop's comms/marketing as a director or VP.

Kpmg 🐠, currently interview for a manager role in their supply chain practice. However, based on my YOE, trying to angle for director (SM) role. Is Kpmg usually open to leveling up based on experience? Thanks!

Currently working for a global tech company on a decent-ish salary where I've been two years. The work is ok. It can be interesting at times, and most of the time I'm left to my own devices to get on with my work. I randomly applied for a higher level director position with a competitor on a similar role (less client exposure, more internal work) and now been offered the role with a 33% pay increase, but now I'm not sure whether to accept for the upheaval etc. Any advice?

It’s a small startup. HR interviewed me and asked all the hard hitting questions (how do you get design inspiration, how do you deal with design roadblocks, what sets you apart for this role?) which I thought was odd for a screening interview.

They made some affirmative noises then said the next step would be a design test (one pager) which I would present to a panel of interviewers including the CMO.
Anyone else think this is odd?

Anyone from Deloitte or any similar big four firm exit to Capital One as a senior manager or a director? I’ve been applying to roles and getting nothing back. Seven years of experience in the cyber security field and two years at a big four. Also just redid my résumé as well. I would love any referrals or a point in the right direction. @Capital One

Any consultants successful at transitioning to a director of product role at a tech company? If so what was your background and how difficult was the search?

I know that BYU is not M7 but is it still considered a top tier ish MBA? I am a CPA with a Macc but wondering if I would need an MBA to actually excel faster to a Director level position within Finance or Strategy. 2.5 YOE at EY.

Do Titles or levels (L5, L6) really matter vs. company brand and pay? Just got a FAANG offer that is close to 50% more than my current comp. I’m probably going to take it. The role is reasonably new and has a vague title. It’s not Director or Head or anything. It’s more like just Strategy and Sales Support. Could this impact me in the long run? I’m probably overthinking is but change is always a little scary.

I'm on a L1-A visa and thinking of starting the GC process with my employer. Before transferring to the US, I managed a team of multiple direct reports in a Director/Head of Function role. In my new/current job in the US (for which the company transferred me), however, I have only 1 person with a dotted line reporting to me (matrix structure). In this role I manage a function. I'm working as trader with flat hierarchy creating multi Mln EBIT. Will I still qualify for the EB 1C filing?

I work at a boutique (currently ~14 bankers and 10 back office roles).

Joined in august. Since august, 3 senior bankers (MD / VP) 1 HR director, and now 2 analysts have left for great opportunities. To be honest I’m happy and like my role, plus it’s too early to think about switching firms already.

I am now the only analyst left, we have another one joining in January. Any advice on how I can leverage this for comp discussions at the end of the year?

I have an interview scheduled in 2 weeks for a strategy consultant role.

I never had a phone screen or interview with HR but the call is set with 2 managers, consultant, and a director level.

What do you think of this in terms of how long the process might be?

I have two opportunities I’m considering. One that’s a director position with a large holding company doing what I do now. The second is a well known vendor DSP. Both similar in building teams and bringing partners up. Both pay is similar. But going vendor side (not sales) would that hinder my path on the media/agency side if I were to take it? Director at large ad Agency or Director at Vendor DSP.

How do you interpret “Years of experience“ in salary surveys and reports?
Here’s an example. Does a Creative Director with 7+ yrs of experience have 7+ yrs in the role of a Creative Director? Or does that 7 yrs include their work as a Senior Designer?

Folks who joined Corporate Strategy Director/Principal roles in F500 companies post consulting - what has been your experience? Given how lean these teams are, I believe you are playing an IC role majority of the time. What does the career ladder look like? Also, if you don't end up liking the role, are your exits equally attractive as they were upon leaving consulting? Or do you get boxed into that particular industry?

I left PA earlier this year for a manager level financial reporting role. It was a lateral move but would’ve been up for senior manager promo in July had I stayed in PA. I was approached with another opportunity as Sr Manager Financial Reporting at a public company for $150k and 20% bonus with a clear path to director in time. 8 YOE and live in FL. I’m trying to get an idea if this is in line with market. TIA!

Thoughts on staying in IB longer term to VP/director/MD level vs. exiting at the associate level? Seems like total number of exit opps get cut down but quality of exit opps is higher (ie. senior level in PE/corp dev). Considering this option if enjoying/managing life as an associate in IB at my firm
