What’s the difference between a corporate financial analyst versus a financial analyst at BAH? I’m assuming the corporate position is an internal role; is that generally viewed as a tier below anyone client facing in terms of salary and career progression?
Hello, to the Fishbowl Community! Been a financial analyst at a big bank for about 8 months now. Currently in a middle market position analyzing companies and underwriting credit memos, etc. that kind of work. Career trajectory looks like FA>Credit analyst>Portfolio Manager/relationship manager, then senior leadership. Looking to move from commercial banking side of things and explore a role in Investment banking in a couple years. Anyone in here done something similar? Is it feasible? Tips?
How do you keep up on CPE requirements after leaving PA? I’m going into a financial analyst position. What resources do you use and how much do they charge?
Thoughts on the Sales Financial Analyst role at Twitter as an exit opp from consulting? 2 YOE
I really want to shift to a role in real estate as a financial analyst helping with deals. I have an undergrad in finance, masters in business analytics and working on the CFA level 1. But not much experience in deal analysis before I was more in the advising side and currently in a strategy role. Any suggestions on companies and roles I should look at for real estate analyst roles?
Might be trying to get out of tax for a financial analyst role. Any tips for landing a position/getting ready for a possible interview?
I’m really unhappy in audit. Not only is it the hours during busy season, but I just have no interest in audit work and find it really tedious/boring. I want to transition to either a Finance role (FP&A/Financial Analyst) in industry or into a finance consulting role (such as valuations). I’m interested in financial modeling and working on forward-looking aspects of a business. Should I talk to my Career Advisor about how I’m unhappy in audit or should I just look for opportunities elsewhere?
Looking to find a financial analyst role in nyc. Could somebody kindly refer me? I’ve been with ey tax for 3 years!
I have two years of internal audit experience in a 500 company and I am relocating to a financial analyst role within the company. However, I think I still need the public accounting experience in big4 to get a long-term competency. I want to apply big 4 staff auditor after I pass the rest two CPA exams. I know I can’t get the experienced auditor position since I don’t have public accounting experience. I had my master in accounting. Will I be qualified for the entry level auditor in big4?
Currently looking to leave audit for a Senior Financial Analyst or FP&A position in the media/entertainment/music industry. I’ve always thought it’d be cool to work a company in one of those industries. Has anyone made this transition from audit and can offer some insight on what the job is like on a day to day basis?
80k for a Sr financial analyst position in LA a little low? A pretty big entertainment company...kind of disappointed - but also hate where I currently am so might just take it.
I am interviewing for a senior financial analyst position and the recruiter says they’re getting ready to make me an offer. I am not very familiar with the company and there’s not a lot of info available about them. Should this be a red flag for me or is it common to jump into an unknown company?
What’s the downside of leaving FDD for a Corporate finance role? (I.e Sr Financial analyst). It sounds like everyone talks up leaving for Corp dev, while Corp finance is made out to be lowest tier exit.
Hi! I received an offer as a financial analyst for $86k base in Seattle (with stock options and bonus, annual income will be ~$110k). However, right now I’m making $115k base comp in SF as senior tax associate. I think H1B doesn’t care about total comp package, just base salary - will it be difficult to transfer the h1b to a lower salary position? Thank you!
Would you leave consulting to become a senior financial analyst at a tech company - is that a bad exit ?
Currently in a role similar to a “financial analyst” with about 2 years experience. What does this path lead to ultimately? What other options are there to pivot to
What are typical SQL questions asked at a Google technical interview for a financial analyst role?
Senior Financial Analyst role at a very successful but unheard of startup in (Saas for HC) or M&A I&D IT at Deloitte? Assuming comp is the same but 10k sign on at D and no sign on bonus. Qualified for both roles and have relevant experience and not sure which role I’d enjoy more. Have a resume full of lesser known places but good industries (Mgmt consulting full time, And IB internships). 2 YOE
Currently an A3 in assurance. I have two job offers: senior financial analyst (FP&A role) and senior accountant. Similar pay (a little over 40% raise), similar benefits. Will taking one of the offers limit me to just those types of roles going forward or would there still be an opportunity to do the other later on?
I have an excel test coming up for a financial analyst interview at a tech company. The role’s daily responsibilities don’t involve building LBO nor DCF models, etc. More focused on FP&A forecasting. What should I brush up on in addition to pivot tables, and v/hlookup? Ty
Is moving to American Express for a Business Analyst role good option? Also, does AMEX hire technology graduates for Financial Analyst position?
Hi Everyone, Hope you all are doing well. I have around 5.5 years of experience in Invoicing, Collections and Backend. I have completed a Financial Analyst course and looking a job for the same field. Could anyone please help me and refer me for the Financial Analyst role. I really appreciate the help.
2nd year audit staff here. If I want to exit audit to go into a Sr. Financial Analyst role or industry accounting role, should I start applying right after my senior promotion? I really don’t want to do a year of audit as a senior.
Has anyone had experience going from audit senior to a financial analyst type role? Been in audit for 3 years. I think I know I don’t want to be an accounting manager or controller. Glad I have the opportunity to learn in my current role but trying to think about next steps in my career. Any info /advice would be greatly appreciated!
Anyone have any insight on Financial analyst roles that are primarily focused on inventory? I applied for a financial analyst role and it sounds like it’s largely focused on inventory, curious if anyone has experience in a similar role.. thanks!
I’m currently a financial analyst at an ad agency. Coming close to 2years in this role was a intern for 6 months prior at the same agency. I’m realizing I’m not enjoying the work anymore and would like to do something else. I’m looking for more of a analytical role. I’ve been thinking about being a business analyst. Can someone provide tips or advice on transitioning to a BA. Also I’ll take any advice in other roles I can transition to with my background that I may enjoy.
BCG 🐠: came across a finance lead position (internal). Is this equivalent to a finance manager role? The PD states that candidates who don’t meet the years of experience requirement will be considered for Sr financial analyst.

Does anyone know anything about client financial analyst role at Accenture federal? I know someone preparing and it’s a case interview. But not client facing so wanted to see what they’re getting into.
I used a referral to apply to some financial analyst roles. I like how recruiters are willing to personally decline you which opens a dialogue on criticism. I was given resources on improving resumes and interview skills. It seems my resume is in good shape according to the recruiter but I can’t seem to land an interview. Is there anything else left besides a referral and a good resume to get through? I feel like being from the east coast applying to west coast roles is a factor
Looking to leave from an audit senior to a financial analyst role, should I be looking at financial analyst or senior financial analyst roles? Also anyone know proper pay range for these roles in Southern California?
Just applied for a financial analyst position and they have asked me to prepare a top line P&L along with a flux analysis of CY vs PY and CY vs Budget, which is straightforward and I actually think is fun! However, this is my first interview outside of public accounting, is it common to have to put together work before an interview?
Anyone know of stories where ppl exited to the fashion industry, in particular luxury fashion? Ie a corporate dev role or financial analyst role at LVMH, etc. wondering if this is sth consulting exit ops offer, or should I aim to go to business schools that target these companies (HEC, ESSEC etc)? Currently a college senior and wondering which path to take
I talked to a few recruiters about how I want to leave for a financial analyst position and all of them tell me that it’s not likely and that it’s a two step process to get there. They have said I should go with senior accounting roles and then transition after... however that doesn’t seem very convincing to me and I would rather make the move now while I’m still early in my career (first year audit senior). Would appreciate any experiences or advice 😁
Has anyone made a switch out of accounting and more info with an FPA (financial analyst) or operations role? I would imagine it can’t be too hard to leverage an accounting background to do this. I never want to deal with SOX controls again, and continue getting stuck on awful projects within Deloitte advisory. Feeling silo’d and looking for an out. Away from accounting and into FPA or Operations.
I am working as an internal auditor in a Fortune 500 company. My director told me there is a relocate opportunity to move from internal auditor to a financial analyst role, which is in another business unit/city/state and I like that new city more than the current city. I am not sure whether I should accept the opportunity? BTW I am moving to internal audit senior this year while the new role is an entry level financial analyst. I appreciate any suggestions or brainstormings. Thanks!!!!!
I am working as an internal auditor in a Fortune 500 company. I got a RFE on my H1B and my employer is working on it. My director told me there is a relocate opportunity to move from internal auditor to a financial analyst role, which is in another business unit/city/state. I am not sure whether a change of the title/location will bring many troubles so that I should reject the opportunity? Been working in PA for 2 years. No prior internships or business related work. Is it okay that my resume is just my associate role with like 15 bullet points? Not sure how to fill in the blank space, and it feels super lame to bring in non-relevant college jobs. Can I include ways I'm involved at the firm like mentorship and diversity initiatives?

Currently interviewing at a startup and a new position opened up that I really like. Would it look bad to ask the recruiter if I can also be considered for the new role?
Trying to exit into FAANG but know it may be a long shot involving a handful of rejections. Meanwhile got approached by a number of recruiters for a) smaller emerging startup <but need to shift geo>, and b) major banks for in-house strategy. I’ll proceed with interviews with a) since it will give me a flavour of tech recruiting, but should I even go through with interview process for b)? Thoughts? Fyi, have not interviewed in 4+ years!
Secured 750 (Q:49, V:42) in GMAT. Targeting to apply for EMBA in 1-2 years. 9 YOE. Current role: Senior Manager. Target universities: M7, INSEAD and LBS. Question is, for GMAT exam I just focused on Q & V part, and skipped IR & AWA part (IR: 1 & AWA: 3). Now does it make sense to reattempt with a focus on other parts and risk 750 scores, or you think it’s not needed, as for EMBA’s GMAT score is not the only deciding factor and 750 score is enough for most universities irrespective of IR & AWA.
Has anyone left for another big4 with the intention of returning later? I’m being offered a manager role and a nice pay bump at the same practice at another firm. I can tell their leadership doesn’t h

What are the most lucrative exit opps for a generalist/strategy consultant at big 4 public sector consulting with security clearance? I’ve heard positive things about Google and Amazon/AWS and about some of the big defense firms (Lockheed). Is it actually possible to boost comp by 50% or so on exit from big 4 in this space?

Hi all, would love to get your opinion on an estimated market rate for a employee like me, as I’m thinking about asking for a raise in January but haven’t done this before. 1 YOE TS/SCI Full-Scope Clearance 1/2 thru Masters program (Analytics Georgia Tech) Been lead data scientist on team for 5+ months 2 AWS and Tableau cert (sorry had to throw that in there lol) I know this is a tough task without all the context but I’m currently making $95k and that seems to be the lowest on my team.
