Anyone transitioned out of tax to a senior financial analyst role?

Looking to find a financial analyst role in nyc. Could somebody kindly refer me? I’ve been with ey tax for 3 years!

I have two years of internal audit experience in a 500 company and I am relocating to a financial analyst role within the company. However, I think I still need the public accounting experience in big4 to get a long-term competency. I want to apply big 4 staff auditor after I pass the rest two CPA exams. I know I can’t get the experienced auditor position since I don’t have public accounting experience. I had my master in accounting. Will I be qualified for the entry level auditor in big4?

Currently looking to leave audit for a Senior Financial Analyst or FP&A position in the media/entertainment/music industry. I’ve always thought it’d be cool to work a company in one of those industries. Has anyone made this transition from audit and can offer some insight on what the job is like on a day to day basis?

80k for a Sr financial analyst position in LA a little low? A pretty big entertainment company...kind of disappointed - but also hate where I currently am so might just take it.

What’s the downside of leaving FDD for a Corporate finance role? (I.e Sr Financial analyst). It sounds like everyone talks up leaving for Corp dev, while Corp finance is made out to be lowest tier exit.

Hi! I received an offer as a financial analyst for $86k base in Seattle (with stock options and bonus, annual income will be ~$110k). However, right now I’m making $115k base comp in SF as senior tax associate. I think H1B doesn’t care about total comp package, just base salary - will it be difficult to transfer the h1b to a lower salary position? Thank you!

Currently an A3 in assurance. I have two job offers: senior financial analyst (FP&A role) and senior accountant. Similar pay (a little over 40% raise), similar benefits. Will taking one of the offers limit me to just those types of roles going forward or would there still be an opportunity to do the other later on?

2nd year audit staff here. If I want to exit audit to go into a Sr. Financial Analyst role or industry accounting role, should I start applying right after my senior promotion? I really don’t want to do a year of audit as a senior.

Has anyone had experience going from audit senior to a financial analyst type role? Been in audit for 3 years. I think I know I don’t want to be an accounting manager or controller. Glad I have the opportunity to learn in my current role but trying to think about next steps in my career.

BCG 🐠: came across a finance lead position (internal). Is this equivalent to a finance manager role? The PD states that candidates who don’t meet the years of experience requirement will be considered for Sr financial analyst.

I used a referral to apply to some financial analyst roles. I like how recruiters are willing to personally decline you which opens a dialogue on criticism. I was given resources on improving resumes and interview skills. It seems my resume is in good shape according to the recruiter but I can’t seem to land an interview. Just applied for a financial analyst position and they have asked me to prepare a top line P&L along with a flux analysis of CY vs PY and CY vs Budget, which is straightforward and I actually think is fun! However, this is my first interview outside of public accounting, is it common to have to put together work before an interview?

I talked to a few recruiters about how I want to leave for a financial analyst position and all of them tell me that it’s not likely and that it’s a two step process to get there. They have said I should go with senior accounting roles and then transition after... however that doesn’t seem very convincing to me and I would rather make the move now while I’m still early in my career (first year audit senior). Would appreciate any experiences or advice 😁

Has anyone made a switch out of accounting and more info with an FPA (financial analyst) or operations role? I would imagine it can’t be too hard to leverage an accounting background to do this. I never want to deal with SOX controls again, and continue getting stuck on awful projects within Deloitte advisory. Feeling silo’d and looking for an out. Away from accounting and into FPA or Operations.

I am not sure whether I should accept the opportunity? BTW I am moving to internal audit senior this year while the new role is an entry level financial analyst. Advice needed: looking to leave public accounting and tax for good. I have two offers between a financial analyst and an accountant role. Based on your experience, which of the two has the best/better exit opportunities (should I decide to pursue the finance realm or something else) and better work life balance? The bigger pay as an analyst is tempting, but the company benefits are meh.

I see job posts from consulting firms looking for senior analysts/associates and the requirements are calling for 1-3 years of investment banking experience.

Specific example: guidehouse has a “financial analyst - senior consultant” position available on LinkedIn calling for 1-3 years IB. This has got to be a dream requirement right? Do IB analysts making $150k+ really leave to make half? Just seems like these positions would never get filled to me

What are the exit opportunities for finance transformation consulting (shared service, process improvement, etc)? I want to do customer success or product strategy, but having a hard time getting interviews. Thought about starting from product finance, but they are looking for financial analyst or FP&A type of experience 🤦‍♂️
