What are some of the technical skills Consultants are expected to demonstrate in Product Manager role at Google, Amazon etc

What's the Amazon Program Manager role like? Looks like they hire a lot of consultants. How's the role perceived in relation to a Product Manager? And does a Program Manager actually manage a team?

If I put 2 years in at Accenture Strategy, will companies like Facebook (who don't necessarily require CS/Engineering background) consider me for a Product Manager role?

Stay in my current Product Manager role at General Motors (avg salary, not learning/progressing PdM space, good wlb, lots of work but lots of politics, messy process and conflicts with other teams) OR move into a Senior PdM at Mapbox (higher salary, RSUs, unknown culture, unknown wlb, etc.). Mapbox is intriguing because I feel like it will help me grow as a product manager, but I’m a little worried this may be “grass is greener on other side” scenario.

Hey guys need help evaluating two offers: offer A: technical product manager, TC 110k. Offer B: product analyst, TC 140k. Offer A offers better work exp and I want to do PM work, offer B pays more and has the potential to internal transfer to a PM role within a year, but it’s obviously not guaranteed. How can I transition from Program Manager role to Product Manager role?

Hey all, transitioned from the military last spring and got a UX product manager position at a bank.

Pay is good, but missing the mission aspect of work. Have interview offers from Microsoft and Amazon for cleared PM work, but most of them are less product manager work and more adjacent program work.

This might just be grass is greener thinking, but would love to hear if you have made the transition if you enjoy cleared PM work or do you wish you stayed in the non-cleared space?

Have an offer for an analytics & AI technical product manager role in the payments industry. I’m concerned about the specificity on analytics products since they tend not to have all the same features (UI, etc.) that non-analytics products do. Is this an area to avoid or a good opportunity (pay & title aside)?

I joined current company 3 months ago but I’m thinking of leaving. Great pay, career growth opportunity, supportive manager, and gaining leadership experience by managing and hiring the team. However I really do not enjoy the job. It is so uninteresting. It’s a BI Manager role.

I then got a new job offer today to become a Product Manager for a startup that raised its Series B. I want to take it because it’s a great opportunity to try out something new but I feel guilty. What do I do?

How technical is the technical product manager role at Amazon? I just got a message but my background is management consulting, such as growth strategy and operating model design, so I am as non-tech as it gets

Had an initial convo with the recruiter for a Sr Product Manager (Technical) role at Amazon onsite in Seattle (no remote) and he said the avg all in package they’re targeting is 180-190k. That’s 50-60k less than avg than what I’ve been seeing on fb and levels. I know that the band goes all the way up to 300k also. Currently making 200k all in and in a city 35% cheaper. The role is also a perfect fit for my background (7 yrs related experience), 3-4 yrs of other work experience.

I’m a Junior product manager with a Master’s in Healthcare Management. I feel like the current company that I am at has my title as JPM, but I am doing PM work i.e creating product roadmaps, collaborating across stakeholders (business, marketing, design teams), creating user stories/features, etc. and I feel like my work isn’t being valued and I’m constantly being micromanaged by business teams expectations.

How feasible is it for me to apply to a PM role with less than a year of experience?
