If you come from a consulting > programming/developer background, is project manager a step down? I want a role that has a technical aspect and a managing aspect

I recently accepted a newly created role ( which I love) with a brand. My most recent title was Sr. Project Manager. Though I’m now making more money, my current title is now project manager. The roles and responsibilities; however, are more aligned with a program manager ( think more strategic and global). After looking I noticed there were no Program Manager titles in the entire marketing division. That said, because it’s a new role, do I have the ability to request this change? If so, when?

Recruiter reached out for a Project Manager role in Finance Transformation in industry and says my experience is a perfect fit, but sounds like it's something more PM based and less analytical. A FAANG InMailed me to interview me for a project manager role in the bay area, but the pay is surprisingly low: 150 base, 15% target bonus, 80k rsu, unspecified equity refreshers. Should I decline to interview? What FAANG project or program manager TC should I target instead? I have a target MBA, 5 YOE before school, 4 YOE at big 4 after.

Anyone ever took a less than desirable role in an industry you really wanted to be in with the plan to transfer internally to another more desirable role? How did it work out? Just joined a new consulting firm (after being laid off from the last one due to “poor performance”), and I’m being staffed conditionally on my first project. Manager has so far has given me pretty light / easy PMO work and asked me to make a few slides here and there, but generally it’s work below the level I was hired for. I’m in the post-MBA role, so want to make sure I’m meeting those expectations early on. Any advice on how to go about this and get more responsibility?

Hey all, just landed an offer for a Senior Project Manager role at a leading energy company. Offer was 135 with 30 signing bonus, 20% performance bonus. Negotiate accept or pass? Me: MBA, PMP, 5 YOE relevant exp, 32 years old, 8 years military service.

How do I become a stronger Project Manager? I have never been in a role as a true PM. More of an assistant to a PM or PMO role. I usually just ask for status updates, update project plans, send out minutes. Is this more of a personality thing? How do I get better? TIA!

Help... I have an analyst on my account who is the project manager.... 2 years at firm.... but, often doesn't produce an agenda (making me scramble) and then on other calls doesn't take notes? Or share screen? She also schedules calls without asking resulting in time wasted and me asking "did you ask if this time worked for everyone?.... and she didnt ask... and they didn't accept either). We've already talked to her about her role - setting up calls, taking notes, etc. 😑🤯 wtf......
