I’m not happy here, but I don’t want to leave before getting at least 6 years of experience or manager title. Anyone else feel the same way? I just wonder if I should go, and just leave for a senior accountant position. I have three clients I’m working on along with a quarter deadline next week, and I just got sick and had surgery and feel like I have no time to breathe. I’m still not 100 percent, but people are already waiting for me to come back. Just so tired of this.

Is it possible to get into b4 FDD from an incur that senior accountant, FAAS, technical accounting or nation firm audit role?

I’m a tax senior in big 4. Which role in the industry has a better career trajectory in terms of growth and pay: senior accountant or senior tax accountant? I do a lot of tax provision and starting to find tax interesting but I’m not having a lot of luck finding openings for in house tax roles.

Anyone familiar with salary in orange county (SoCal) and LA/El Segundo area? Interviewed for a senior accountant role in a public health care industry in Irvine, but their maximum pay is 85K. I thought Irvine should have pretty good pay too but this surprises me. Even a private Healthcare company in El Segundo pays more than that for the same role but with even lesser experience and easier job duties...

Is this salary too low? I'm @ final interview for senior accountant and job posting said $60-65k. Before you say it's too low right away, my experience is on a low end of this of this role. Just 1 year auditer @ national top 10, 6 months intern at same firm, 1 year accounting intern at local private firm, and 2 years doing AP clerk. I'm a licensed CPA and in MCOL. I really want this title for growth but don't want to get stiffed. It's a large corp w/ great benefits.

Currently making $57.5 as a Tax Associate. (No raises this year).

Had a job interview for a Senior Accountant role at a PE firm and they asked for salary expectations... I said $65-$80. Did I set the bar too low?

I'm up for promotion to M1 this summer. But I honestly cant stand the thought of one more busy season, and am fairly confident I can land a job in private industry in the next month. Am I crazy to leave as a S3, 6 months short of a promotion to M1, for a job as a senior accountant in private industry? Or should I try to stick it out to M1 and then bounce for an accounting manager position?

What is a typical bonus for a senior accountant for a industry role? I am looking for rough average percentages. Thanks!

I left public accounting 6 months ago for a Senior Accountant role, and my company was just acquired. The deal is supposed to finalize shortly and I’m wondering how I should proceed. I haven’t heard anything regarding the acquiring company’s plans for our workforce, location, etc so I’m not sure whether I’ll be retained. Do I reach out to recruiters and start job hunting now, or wait and see how things play out? I don’t know how much notice I’ll get and I’d prefer to avoid an employment gap.

What is the typical exit pay for a senior associate 2 to senior accountant in Los Angeles? Four years of exp, and have passed CPA exams but don’t have the license yet

Which candidate is more competitive for a manager position in industry? Assuming equal likeability, both have CPA, same school, etc

Candidate A: leaving public for private as a manager with one busy season complete, or as a fresh new manage, five years of experience, only experience is in public accounting
Candidate B: left big four as a senior associate to industry as a senior accountant. Four years of exp in big four, two years of experience in industry

Position: Senior Accountant
Base : 78k with 10% bonus
Location: Houston, Texas
Does this seem like a good offer?

Is Senior Accountant to Sr Financial Analyst reasonably possible? I'm having a hard time selling my audit experience to a Finance hiring manager who doesn't have PA experience or their CPA. I'm thinking if I do a Sr Accountant role for 1-3 years I would be more marketable for a Sr Financial Analyst position. Thoughts? Seems like most Financial Analyst positions want forecasting experience and some of the Sr Accountant roles I've seen mention that as a job duty.

If I ultimately don’t want to work in financial reporting or a senior accountant position, and would much rather work in finance/FP&A, am I better off leaving now, or at least staying until I hit senior? Currently a second year trying to decide next steps.

Has anyone ever left tax for a senior accountant role and then ended up going back to tax?

Hey all. I really need some opinions on this position I was just offered in Plano TX. The position is for a senior accountant role with a base comp of $90K-$95K and 10% bonus. I’m not too familiar with the area but the role is remote for the next couple of months and I was wondering if that’s a decent salary for that area. Thank you in advance! 

In a process of interviewing for a technical accounting manager job. Hiring manager told me that the position won’t have staff oversight responsibilities. So I feel this is a glorified senior accountant job under a manager title. The raise is decent 20%. Growth opportunity seems to be ok, 2 SM above me, one manager who has more experience, and 2 accountants that the SM oversees. It is technical accounting, so probably doing special projects etc. Should I take the offer?

I am not hired for senior accountant roles because they say they say I am over qualified. Manager level roles I am told I am under qualified.

Have a third and final interview for a senior accountant position tomorrow with the director of tax in industry. I previously spoke to the director and CFO. Is this is a formality? What should I expect? Any thoughts are appreciated.

Hi all, I am needing some help with a salary negotiation. I am trying to relocate to Pittsburgh area. I have 3.5 years of experiences now and getting offered between 80k-85k for base salary for a senior accountant or reporting analyst position. Does this sound about right? I get paid more right now (maybe becasue I am in Oil and Gad industry) but want to see what the market average look like in Pittsburgh.

Just became a S2 at PwC in tax. If I am thinking about jumping to industry. Would it be considered a lateral or downward move to accept a senior accountant position or should I be shooting for manager?

I’ve been working in personal tax ever since joining a public firm. When I look at exit opportunities in industry, all of them required full cycle accounting. I’m interested in going the controller route (grow within a company kinda thing) so I looked at my network and connected with a smaller public accounting firm where I could work as a senior accountant doing reviews and NTRs. Would this experience get me full cycle accounting knowledge?

I’m considering leaving PA for a senior accountant position at a Fortune 500 company. If I do this will I essentially kill my opportunities of getting into an M7 mba program? My original plan was to go audit->TAS->mba because m7 rarely takes you from audit. I’m also making peanuts rn and can make considerable more in a senior accountant position. Does my plan make sense?
