25 y/o female, only 3.5 years into consulting and can’t see myself doing this forever, rising the ranks and making partner. I feel like a failure/loser for wanting to stoop beneath my potential and exit the rat race at such a young age. Already looking to pivot, but no idea where to go. I’m in change/transformation/strategy so no technical skills. I enjoy helping people be their best (coaching / program management / talent optimization type work). Sad that my only skills are soft skills. Ideas?
I’m an experienced hire SC and a PPMD just staffed me on a staff aug role that I don’t want to do instead of staffing me on one that used my unique skill set. Feeling super sad going into another staff aug for 1+ yr not doing what I want to when I have 5+ YOE. Any words of encouragement? I just joined the firm...
I dream of one, bright sunny day Upon the bench, unassigned I lay They have a role, “are you free?” they say Not that client, my tone so sad The next 6 months, will be so bad
My husband and I planned to relocate a couple months ago. I got hit by the covid hiring freeze but he didn’t. He moved for his new role & I planned to stay in my job here until hiring picked up. Now there seems to be a “second wave” and I’m getting nervous. I’m hundreds of miles away from my entire family, a second round of quarantine (in my city) seems likely, and I’m stuck in a job I was anxious to leave a year ago. I’m so sad, lonely and depressed. I think I need to just quit. Any recs?
Does anyone have a positive career or work history in Internal Audit? There’s such a negative view of it and as someone that’s just spent their first year on an IA team after being a public accounting high performing S1, I definitely get why people view it as a place where careers go to die. But are there any exit opportunities or skill development opportunities you’ve developed, taken or heard of that might provide insights that I’m overlooking? Sincerely, “Sad I thought with my wallet.”
After 3 months of applying I some how got an interview with a well known growing tech start up! Interviewed and got an offer this week. Unfortunately the offer is lower than my current comp with 1 yoe but it gets me out of tech consulting/compliance and into a pretty interesting product facing role! A bit sad about a lower comp but also pretty pumped about pivoting career paths so early and getting to work in product! Hope this “success” helps motivate some of y’all who might feel down!
I was sad to hear about layoffs at W+K. If you were part of this and want another job in PDX, we’re hiring (although, technically, you can live anywhere now and WFH).
6 momths pregnant and I can see my competitors are taking over my work and my role is slipping off my hands. I'm feeling bad but I'm unable to cope up. I have been top performer always. I'm sad.
Looking for Senior Art Director / ACD role or partners in NY, LA or SF. DM me for my book. If you have any leads or can help me to forward to your recruiter I’ll buy you a drink or coffee. 🙏
had a great interview at acn with a mgr and he gave feedback to recruiter that id be a great fit for an A position rather than a SA. spoke with recruiter and she said all A spots are filled..sad day😔
Am a CPA but sad to say I dislike accounting/not my strength. Looking to jump out of PA but can’t see myself in any Acc related position such as Acc Manager. Any ideas on what other jobs I can go for?
Till date, any kind of feedback makes me sad. That am not good enough or doing enough. This profession has made me insecure. Was already having a terrible day. Pmo role is more about printing..
Received offer for local boutique firm. New role would be minimal travel, level increase to manager, salary increase of 20k but no bonus. Excited at opp to help grow firm, but will be sad to leave D.
Hello! I am interviewing for an AAD role. Group interview with a GCD, a few ACD, & a few SAD. I have only worked as an in-house designer. Advice on what are some good questions to ask. Thank you!
Recently made the jump from SAD to ACD. At my last agency I was sorta playing the role of managing others, but now that it’s official there is a whole bunch of new things to learn and take on. Advice?
I was given a verbal offer and then the media agency lost an account before I could sign an offer letter. Now there is a temporary hiring freeze. Is there any hope? I’m really sad about this.
I look at the jobs on LinkedIn and get sad because I don't see anything that ever interest me and I fear I will get stuck in public accounting without an exit plan.
LinkedIn: 5 bajillion recruiters have viewed your profile as digital Senior Art Director! The one recruiter that reaches out: You seem perfect for this Director of Decorative Furnishings role! SMH 🤦🏻♀️
Invest by MarketCap Crypto Strategy Ok all letme know what you think of this strategy....its sad but the top 50 S&P stocks hav outperformed every single hedge fund out there managed by impressive Ivy League Managers. (I say lets hang these useless financial wizard banksters)..Follow this same line of thinking and apply to Cryptos...I suspect some survival of the fittest theory working here. ....All you have to do is invest in the top 10 crypto currencies by Market Cap and hold your position for short to mid term. Long term ie 5 to 10 years, I feel this market will mature and all the bubbles will deflate. To see top ten either go to Cryptomarketcap or go install the Crypto Tracker app from play store...As of 12/26/17... Top Cryptos by market cap:1. BTC. 2.ETH 3.Btc cash 4. Ripple xrp 5.LTC 6. Cardano/AdA 7. Iota 8.Dash 9.xem 10.Monero XMR

Tips on negotiating an offer? Percentage increase if the role is a step up? (e.g. Senior Art Director?) I'm always scared of them not wanting me enough and retracting the offer
So I just got offered a Sr. art director position in Shenzhen, China for a company's international business. The salary is about $300,000. It makes me sad that I can't relocate as of now.
My ex-ECD wants to throw me a leaving do 1 month into my 3 months of gardening leave after a tricky exit. Was sad about not being able to do one at the time but have emotionally left now. Should I?
Pretty sure co-worker is having his exit interview right now. Was talking about getting fired last week but first meeting with mgr signaled no firing. He looked super sad going in... 😕
Gave notice last week. Thought long & hard about the move, was pumped about the new role (still am)- but now I'm heartbroken and SAD, mostly about leaving the people. Wine is helping. What else? 😢
You know what is kind of sad? I've now learned that this one SM I have looked up to for the last year is kind of a mess. Nobody is perfect. Time for a new role model. Oh well
2nd year Big 4 consultant interviewing for a 2 year analyst program at a private investment/private equity firm. Role at first will be split 40-40-20 between Operations, Investor Relations, and Investment Team. Being marketed to be as a "rotation" Good exit? Don't want to take PE for the sake of PE, I want it to have legitimately transferable skills in modeling, valuation, investment with MBA almost certain after 2 years. Concerned I'd get "stuck" on portfolio monitoring
Where the hell do we apply after 3 years as tech consultants at a big 4? I feel overqualified for a senior analyst position in the industry, but often times under-qualified for the manager level.
Has anyone here made the decision to move from consulting to medicine? Lately I have been feeling a need to truly help people and am wondering if an MD can position me to work and eventually lead in state health where I’d be able to work on large public health initiatives, similar to Deborah Birx’ experiences
Poll - how many of us are planning on leaving after busy season? Please state yes or no and your current position. I’ll start... Yes, Audit Senior, leaving ASAP after deadlines pass
Had a really good networking call with a manager from D who offered to help in the future if possible but didn’t specifically offer to submit a referral. Is it rude to ask since they offered to help?
After 3 years of dealing with the worst firm I've ever had the displeasure of working for, I finally landed my dream gig at a small specialty firm. The people at the new firm are all SMEs featured in and contributors to the most notable business publications in the world, less than 100 employees, better benefits, unlimimted PTO, doubled my pay and landed a senior role. Keep looking for what you want and deserve. I'm happy to be forging a better path away from what I've had to endure.
Any PM coming from a design background? Do you miss design craft? Any advice for a fellow designer considering PM role?
Is a move from IT consulting (CRM; Salesforce) to MC/S&O a good idea long term for exit opportunities? Not planning on staying with consulting long term, but curious if I should switch before I ditch
Is there anyway I can apply to a strategy position after being in risk ? Any suggestions to accomplish this ?
Would you consider a role working for the CFO even if it was considered back office and didn't pay great? I feel like the exposure for a few years might be worth it. Thoughts?
Whats the best point to exit consulting? Im currently an associate with couple years experience under my belt. I want to focus on my fanily more so don't see consulting as long term career option.
Is it true that if you don’t hear back within 3 days after an application/employee referral it’s usually a no go? I’ve heard that from a bunch of people.
Anyone know anything about the operations and logistics manager role at Uber? Thoughts? Good exit from consulting?
The big D is into robbing the cradle eh? Not even 4 months into role and already getting contacted for "new opportunities".
Part of my role involves making sure leadership meetings stay on track / on time (fun lol). What are ways you (politely) keep people to their allocated time?
Worth it to take the CFA Level 2 exam? I have a technical background, enjoyed Level I and have seen consultants use their work experience to get the CFA charter. Looking to exit to start-up / VC / PE
Hello there! I am new to this community and would like to ask you guys a quick question. How much is your hourly rate for a Senior AD in SF as a freelancer at an ad agency? THANKS!!
Can someone confirm: flying United Economy (K) from LAX-IAD-LHR, the LAX-IAD route is 20 PlusPoints to upgrade to biz, IAD-LHR routes are 80 plus points.
How do I start collecting miles? Do I have to make an account for every airline I fly or is there a catch-all? Also, if I just booked a personal flight, can I retroactively claim the miles?
How hard is it to get fired from a big 4? Asking bc I heard some people were “pressured” into quitting...
75k base (no bonus) for associate consultant in supply chain consulting. Master of accounting graduate with 1 year of BA/internal consultant exp. Is this reasonable? Old company offering 80k
Just like we all have airline and hotel loyalties, what is your ride share loyalty? Uber vs Lyft! I am not so concerned with quality, more so rewards program or benefits.
This week's tech mention is Piktochart. I came across these guys yesterday and I am stoked about it. If you look they help you build professional infographics. I like to use infographics as a leave-behind from my sales presentation. The flyers help my customers sell the solution up to management. The problem I have is I am not artistic. This service looks like it will allow me to take my ideas and put them in a format worth sharing. Go give them a look.
I’m so burnt out by this old agency culture - where working overtime and weekends seems like hard work to our clients. Not having proper rest is actually detrimental, as the quality and caliber of work begins to suffer. Is in house the way to go? I’m just afraid I’ll break this flow of agency creative intern to ACD. I don’t know why it scares me when my ultimate goal is to finally abandon this all and be a film director + photographer.
Which Big4 is better in terms of benefits ? Considering the mobility, leaves, insurance and WLB. Who has the longest paternity leave ?
Long story short: I work for a small healthcare consulting firm. Since COVID, I was going to the office once a week, every Wednesday. Today, I have put on my 2 weeks because I accepted an offer from a big 4. During my last 2 weeks, I had planned to see my family for the first week, and go to the office on my final week. Also today, my boss asks me to come in the office everyday next week. Should I say I don’t feel comfortable and just don’t go?What’s the worst it happen? Get fired lol
Thinking of traveling to Sydney from NYC to spend rest of maternity leave w/ family. LO is 3mo old and travel time is ~32hrs each way.. is this too much?
What’s that salary website that members post here on occasion for more accurate salary data from companies like FAANG Mbb big 4 and IB? Not glassdoor, not paysa, payscale, it’s not as well known
Just wasted 20 minutes trying to figure out how to update my job title on LinkedIn as a promotion instead of a new position. It still sent notification to my network as a new position instead of a promotion. How’s your evening going? 🙃
Does Deloitte (or other Big4) clawback the CPA bonus if you leave within a year of starting? I’ve heard mixed responses.
