Hello! I am graduating in the fall of next year with my B.S. in Accounting. I was offered a staff accountant position to start immediately at a small firm in Central Florida. The salary is $52k per year with decent additional benefits. Is this a good entry level salary?

Started looking at jobs in private accounting. I scored interviews for a Staff Accountant, Junior Accountant, and Accounting Assistant. I just finished interviewing for the Staff Accountant position which feels very much like AP/AR and Bank Recs to start, similarly to the other two positions. Does the title matter? I want to be able to grow but at the same time I want to make sure I’m moving up positions in my job search so I’m exposed to harder/higher level work.

Potential employer is asking what compensation level I was looking for. They asked me to think about it because they are ready to make an offer. Currently I make $56,000 in LCOL. Potential firm is largest in the state. Current firm is large regional firm. Would be same role I am currently as Staff Accountant. Just not sure what amount to shoot for.

advice on switching from Public accounting at a Big four to an industry staff accountant position after only a little more than a year ? I have no desire to become some kind of CFO or CAO. I’ve been interviewing for positions at smaller public accounting firms as well as staff accountant roles in industry. I just want my life back before busy season….

I have a company where I applied to a Senior Accountant role (3-4 weeks ago). I didn't hear back at all. But they just dropped a staff accountant role. I like the company and what they are doing.

Would it be uncouth for me to apply for the staff position too? Or is that a no-no? I feel like the cover letter would write itself - I like you enough to take a title cut. It helps they included the salary, and the staff salary is lateral to my current role.

Hello all! I am an MBA in Accounting graduate who has had a few AR jobs in my past professional career and in my current role, I do GL postings and reconciliations and ensure everything for my assigned account is entered and posted to the GL. I really want to transition fully into the Accounting world but when I apply for Staff Accountant jobs (in my mind a step above entry-level), I don't get many calls. What am I doing wrong? What should I be applying for with my education and experience?

Spouse got an offer for industry accounting analyst position. 73k base located at New Jersey. Spouse have 3 year Staff Accountant experience with a CPA license. Is this 73k fair pay? Should we ask more? How much more would be appropriate? Many thanks!

Some recruiters are f**king clueless. I made it clear what my salary expectations are and then they try to push me into this staff accountant position paying 60k, which would be a 5k pay cut and I have 2 years exp about to be promoted to senior. Now she's giving me the runaround how I won't get a senior position in industry after I've told her I had interviews for senior positions already paying 85k+

So I’m excited I have three pretty solid options 1. Being a trust tax manager at a bank ( I’ve done banking/trust world before)
2. Contract to hire at a private equity firm 3. Staff accountant role at a healthcare company. Thoughts on these options?

In tax, want to get out and do audit, but getting into a public accounting role in audit is tough without taking about a $10k-$15k paycut. Would doing a staff accountant role (would be a small pay bump) let me transition to audit later? Or is this a bad plan?

I have accepted a mid size company 6 months contract staff accountant role. However, I will have interviews with couple of large companies by the same week of my start date. Should I leave big four audit after two years to take a staff accountant role, would this be good for my career development? Is this common or should I be looking at senior accountant roles. I’m worried this job won’t be challenging if people fresh out of college enter this role

Hello everyone! I will have the potential to have two offers one for staff accountant and one for internal audit. Anyone know of any pros and cons for each type of role that isn’t the obvious?

A position i applied for is “Staff Accountant and Office manager”. It has office duties such as perform general office support, maintain office supplies, and filing as well as all the staff accountant tasks. I asked why they combined the role and they said they wanted an accountant to control the admin/ costs and approve expenses. I’m currently in PA- would this be a reg flag on a resume to accept a role like this? They are paying pretty well.

Have an offer for staff accountant role but it’s only a 17% pay bump. External recruiter says that’s the max, but this was the first offer made by the company, would they really max out on the first offer? Is there anyway to negotiate, I was hoping for 20%?

I’m thinking the compensation will be similar in the new position as what I’m making now so I wouldn’t be getting the normal jump in pay people expect when leaving public accounting. If I were to be offered the position, should I take it? Should I expect a better position if I’m looking for an accounting type role?

Would going from Risk Assurance at a Big 4 accounting firm to a Staff Accountant position in industry be a wise career move? I think the Staff Accountant position would be better suited for my interests and life, but it’s almost as if I’m starting over on a new path after getting a couple of years of experience in Risk Assurance.
