Why would anyone under the age of 25 want to work for a holding company advertising agency? Inbred corruption. History of not hiring people of color. Or hiring them and making them ‘write White’. The history of abusing defrauding and demeaning women. Currently in the middle of a huge ageism epidemic. Human resources that reports right back to managers. Under paying staff while overcharging clients. These agencies will die from lack of clients but even quicker from lack of new talent.

Currently being offered a strategy role for which I don’t think I’m 100% qualified for. It’s a step up from my current role and responsibilities. I know the basic elements to execute, and have a strong foundation, but in this role, I’ll be expected to lead engagements, manage staff etc. There’s going to be a huge learning curve. Not sure if I should accept or not. I know this can be huge for my career. If someone has been in this situation before, please share your thoughts.

So what’s the story with all of these very senior diversity and inclusion officers at many of the big advertising agencies? Have they accomplished the hiring of more diverse staff? Or are they just for show? Ours has been here for a few years and there hasn’t been one more African American strategic planner, creative, or account executive hired in that time. Has this position made a difference for people?

I was laid off from a resource management role, working with employees approaching or on the bench, working with managers to staff projects, and support functions like report creation, scheduling, etc. Roles like this are few and many large consulting firms have frozen internal hiring. Do you think it would be beneficial to get a SHRM cert? Would that help get a "talent related" HR role? Worth the money? I have a background in recruitment as well.

Looking to get out of public accounting and applied for a Staff Accountant position. The company is known for having a great culture and I’m thinking the schedule will be much better. I’m thinking the compensation will be similar in the new position as what I’m making now so I wouldn’t be getting the normal jump in pay people expect when leaving public accounting. If I were to be offered the position, should I take it? Should I expect a better position if I’m looking for an accounting type role?

2+ Asc. looking at exit opps. in Tech - 1. What's your view on Chief of Staff vs. Product Manager roles at a Tech company post-consulting (e.g., pay, impact delivered, WLB, growth etc.)? 2. What are the chances of a 2+ Asc. getting either of those opps.? 3. Opps. are usually better as EM vs. Sr. Asc. (esp. when you're at the cusp), but it feels like the timeline to EM is getting stretched due to COVID-19. Is it worth waiting 6+ months to get designated, esp. with terrible WLB?

Or once you have checked out mentally is there no turning back? I have just stopped caring as much as I did even as recently as a month ago, with a growing pile of work sitting with me, and I want to figure out how to get back in the mindset that helped me succeed before.
