Did anyone manage to leave Big 4 as a staff 2 and exit into industry?

Got a CS background, I don’t code. Got a Masters in supply chain. Currently in Tech consulting.

Just need to know if it’s possible, can’t deal with this shit anymore

I’m currently a staff accountant but I’d like to make the pivot to a financial analyst/FP&A type role in the future. What are some ways I could frame staff accountant duties on a resume for analyst applications? Obviously my variance analysis and preparation of budget items are good starting points, but does anyone have thoughts on this?

I’m a 2nd yr staff at EY, Cyber tech consulting, and I’m looking to exit. I’m leaving bc I feel like consulting is not for me & I’ve had pretty negative experiences w/ my projects.

I know people have recommended not to leave yet since I haven’t hit senior yet but I honestly cannot hang in. Does anyone have any advice/tips/similar experiences that you can share?

Spent 2 years as staff and 1 year as senior in the DSG program. I had various experiences in Private Clients (individuals), GCR (Corps), TARAS (Tax Advisory), and a little bit of International. I also had a lot of SALT engagements (compliance, sales and use, research, etc) and decided to officially move into the Indirect Tax group. I’m now a senior 2.

If I were to leave public, what are the typical types of exit opportunities for people specialized in indirect/SALT but wide a wide background?

Currently 1.5 YOE - EY Staff II in LCOL city $60,000 total comp and able to save and invest roughly 50% of my income. Is a Start up Banking associate role at Silicon Valley Bank in NYC worth the jump? I don’t have hard comp numbers yet, but wondering what comp would make it worth leaving if I have future goals of leaping to VC. How’s the perception of SVB?

Is droga hiring again with the new wins or just moving existing staff around?

What is notice period in EY GDS for advanced analyst/ staff position ?

My TC is $550K at an E6 role, but I think a paycut may be inevitable. No startups I've spoken to can match my TC, including paper RSU. I also spoke with Twitter and their max for staff is the high 500s. Can anyone even match my TC?

What are the pros and cons of your first job out of law school being a staff attorney at a boutique general law firm? Would you take it to get the experience or hold out for an associate position?

Currently a second year associate in insurance defense at a regional firm. Looking at a moving to a vault100 firm in a transactional practice group as a staff attorney. Pros: significantly increased pay, firm name recognition. Cons: not an associate position and brand new practice area. Thoughts?

Leaving to go to Industry as a Staff at EY. I’ve been really surprised at the people of all levels that have reached out to convince me to stay. The main reason is that they’re saying is that “We have the same work you’d be doing there, here at EY”. I’m going to a Internal Consulting/ Corporate Strategy role at a F10 is that really similar to Big 4 Consulting?

Is ZS associates still hiring for core consulting strategy staff out of the undergrad level?

Was let go as a staff 2 at 77k in September and currently have 3 offers in deciding between them. Would really appreciate any feedback. 1. 3rd year associate at PWC -HIA at 85k. 2. Transformation analyst at a big 3 automaker 83.5k 10% bonus. 3. Product development role at a healthcare startup. 100k 7.5k sign on and 7.5k bonus in 3 months. Potential 20% bonus at year end.

Just joined Slalom and found a great role that aligns with my skillset and industry experience out of market but just got denied because my practice lead told me to never take a role out of market. Instead I got staffed on a boring staff aug role. I get the revenue sharing implications between markets but WTF. Is this the norm here? Having doubts about this place now.

I’ve been proposed an exit as Product Owner at a real company, not a consulting one. Staff seems nice, good culture, good salary (less than consulting but well), BUT I would have to move countries for that job and start a new life.

I’ve also been proposed a Manager position at a consulting company in my home city, with potential of bigger salary thanks to bonuses. Culture seems good... But I’m sure it’s gonna be a hell lot of work.

Which one would you take? Should I exit and never look back?

In a process of interviewing for a technical accounting manager job. Hiring manager told me that the position won’t have staff oversight responsibilities. So I feel this is a glorified senior accountant job under a manager title. The raise is decent 20%. Growth opportunity seems to be ok, 2 SM above me, one manager who has more experience, and 2 accountants that the SM oversees. It is technical accounting, so probably doing special projects etc. Should I take the offer?

Anyone familiar with the Chief of Staff role? What YOE would it be most relevant for? Would it be considered a good exit for a strategy consultant aiming for senior management?

Have a long term goal of growing a full service office. A team of wealth managers, planners, life insurance agent(s), PC agent(s), etc. with support staff as needed. Everyone has a role. My question is how should I structure the comp? No idea what’s standard in this structure or where to even research models in our industry. Any ideas?

Staff within the company I am interviewing me for gave me an inside scoop of the hiring process. Says I am there number one pick but they are still conducting interviews ? It’s been 1 week since I had my last interview. Does this sound promising to you all? I need to get out of public ASAP for my mental health

Are referrals from junior people impactful at MBB in terms of securing an interview? I have personal connections to younger staff (went to school with them/close friend) but I didn’t know if I needed to reach out to others who are higher up (who I don’t know personally) to secure a referral that will move the needle in terms of getting an interview.

How are staff attorneys treated in biglaw? What’s the typical difference in salary between a staff attorney and an associate at the same firm? A biglaw firm is looking to fill a staff attorney position, but it looks like everyone has the title of associate on the firm’s website. Any thoughts or guidance would be much appreciated.

Do any of you come across this issue? Why do I feel my colleagues are being lazy/incompetent nearly every day? Is it a me problem? So many can’t seem to lift a finger to do the simplest tasks, when we are on the same team... I have by far the most workload as mid-level staff, and was chugging along but now am losing steam. Should I stop trying so hard if most of my colleagues can’t be bothered to help out? Is it the culture? Is it me? Is it time to leave this company and look for exit opps?

How much does being a manager matter when applying to a manager role? I have same years of experience and technical skills for the position. It didn’t saying anything about having staff assigned or years of management experience.

I’m considering a move to CapCo from Big 4. Im expecting an offer for around 90-100k whereas in my current role I’m making around 65k. I primarily work in offensive security and love what I do. More than willing to change over to Capco bc of the paybump / people I’ve talked to but don’t wanna end up doing staff aug work. Should I make the jump? This is at the consultant level btw

You guys are great, but consulting might not be for me so I’m considering yeeting out. My question: as a staff-level consultant, how much would it help me to wait until I am promoted to senior consultant before leaving? Im going to start a business but if it fails I want to have a decent resume to hop into another role. I’m fresh out of college and I have literally no idea what I’m doing. Thanks all. To the Managers, EMs, PLs, etc. who exited to FAANG, how has your salary and role trajectory evolved? Curious to know if top performers in Biz Ops, Corp Strat, or Chiefs of Staff roles feel like they ‘cashed their chips in’ or whether you still have quick leadership progression.
