I’m a Tax Senior at PwC with 4-5 years experience and want to leave for a position in tax policy/politics. I have my JD. What kind of opportunities are out there in tax policy?

Has anyone jumped straight from tax senior to an accounting manager position at a mid or large company? Curious to know how difficult it is.

In need of advice. I am wrapping up my masters in accounting while I am working in consulting; however, I am interested in tax. I've been wanting to switch teams to do more specialized tax work, but internal transfer sounds so hard due to covid, and also moving to another big4 is very unlikely atm due to hiring freeze.
