Thoughts on staying in IB longer term to VP/director/MD level vs. exiting at the associate level? Seems like total number of exit opps get cut down but quality of exit opps is higher (ie. senior level in PE/corp dev). Considering this option if enjoying/managing life as an associate in IB at my firm

So I received a msg from a headhunter for a start up with about 300 people and just got series D for 75M. The role is to work with CEO’s and very senior level people. The two issues I am having are: when I looked at some of the VP’s over the group…they wouldn’t be very senior anywhere else. One has been working since 2010 and until 5 yrs ago was a ESOL teacher. Startup Corp Dev Comp?

Got an offer for a corporate development role at a pre-ipo startup. Senior manager title but not really meaningful as it’s a startup, essentially I’ll be the only corp dev guy outside of the c-suite.

205k USD cash comp + 115K USD options (net value at current private valuation). IPO likely to happen over the next year.

Wondering if anyone knew a rough TC comp range to expect for a company at this stage? I’m weighing this role vs an IBD VP role (BB).

Thoughts on $200k for a VP/Group Account Director role at a network digital agency on the West Coast? Apparently potential for growth is there etc. but rest of benefits package is pretty standard stuff. (I have 15yrs experience under my belt.)

What role in consulting at Pwc is a Vp at Barclays in strategy and transformation equivalent to? SM or director?

When you leave a position for another agency, do you tell your manager where you are going? I will potentially be resigning for the first time for a promo elsewhere, so unsure of procedure.

Also, if I call my manager (CD) to let him know, I don’t also need to call my boss’s boss (ECD / VP type), correct? I would think I just include him in the resignation email along with my CD and Exec producer (I’m production side).

I’m not currently looking for a change (I left for industry in 2020 and really like my job). When recruiters message me on LinkedIn I reply to them because you never know when I’ll be open in the future and I don’t want to burn bridges. This one recruiter messaged me about 6 weeks ago for an assistant controller position and I replied back saying I’m currently happy with my job and am a VP of Accounting so wouldn’t be interested in an assistant controller role. He has reached out every 2 weeks

I had my onsite 5 weeks ago, and recruiter reached out last week saying I cleared Hiring Committee, and that he’s waiting for VP approval before we move on to compensation talk. How long does the VP approval typically take? And what is the probability of rejection at this stage? Moving from consulting to PE. Would you take a VP role at a shop that isn’t the greatest and may only be around for 5 more years? Or would you take a few steps backwards and take a new associate role at a good fund?

Just got an offer from a Series B startup for a VP role. Latest valuation is 450M and they claim to be in final stages of raising a Series C.

Equity portion of the offer is 0.33% equity vesting over four years.
