Any 🐠 move over to a PE role from consulting but at a more senior level? Like VP? Saw a few examples of folks at newer funds but the story is always short like “that guy was a rockstar.”. Curious to hear of anybody doing this and how they moved.

I was reached out to for an IA Manager position and the job description is an AVP role. Can someone confirm this is accurate?
I'm under the impression everyone in the finance industry is a VP and a manager would be a VP role.

Thoughts on leaving client-facing role / consulting for a role as “chief of staff” for an internal VP? Pitched as supporting development of GTM strategy in addition to supporting budgeting, knowledge management, and other ad hoc internal projects. Like the firm and the people met so far, but concerned about career trajectory / growth opportunities (which seem a bit ambiguous to me compared to staying in traditional consulting).

what’s the going rate for VP, CD position in LA (at a media platform started by a celeb)

Recruiter reached out for a VP spot at an IB for sell-side M&A. Applied for R2, but the role is tempting. I’m not exactly young either—at the higher age range. What would you do if your goal is to get to C-Suite in the future?

At the client an a consultant says... wow, I can’t believe how little client John Smith makes for that senior level role. They’d have to pay me minimum $350k to consider taking that job... Mean while, John Smith is a VP with 25yrs of legit experience making $250k+ in industry and consultant has an MBA and 4yoe. Entitled or reasonable to share in the team room??

How would compensation (base + bonus) look like for a tech VP role in one of the big investment banks in London? Experience requirements are 5-7 years in similar positions.

As a D/SM in Financial Audit (13 YoE), what are some of the popular and realistic exit opps? Dir of Financial Reporting? Dir of Technical Accounting? What’s the TC range for these roles? My friend just got an offer for an Cybersecurity Internal Audit Manager/VP role at a bank for $140k. Is this a good salary, he has 5 YOE all consulting in big4, lives in HCOL.

SM/D fish, what kind of opportunities are you finding/targeting (including comp)? I have been casually looking for almost two years but haven’t found anything so far. Looking at VP level role in my line of work at Fortune 500 but I’m starting to consider SD role too although some roles feel like it’s a bit of a step back. I really want to exit consulting this year but am a bit discouraged.

Are there government jobs for us advertising/digital people? What is a banking VP “Analyst”? Currently a Senior Consultant, reached out to for a VP analyst position. I assume the role is very similar to being a Senior Consultant? I.E. lead analysis and strategy, but with no direct reports? Would you all consider this a lateral move?

Have an offer for a VP level role in treasury they initially told me 135-145. I said minimum i would take is 150,000, they came back with 150,000. I had an offer a few months ago for vp 160k. Suprised such a diff. Covid adjusted salaries?

How many YOE in consulting roughly maps to an AVP or VP role in financial services?

Booz Allen reached out for a "Solutions Architect, Lead" role related to data science. 8+ YOE is a basic qualification. Definitely not an individual contributor role.
How does this correlate with the C/SC/A/LA/VP levels? And any idea on pay range?

As a SM/Director at Big 4, the typical exits to industry are Director or VP level roles. What are your thoughts on a Chief of Staff level role/exit at a T2 tech company? The opportunity for this role is direct access to the C-suite and the Board, reporting directly to the C-level exec. This role (hopefully) is not a glorified EA but was communicated to me to have a lot of responsibility and visibility. Thoughts? What TC would make sense?

My friend is being recruited for a Cyber Security Internal Audit position at a major bank. VP/AVP level he’s currently a Senior Consultant with a background in Internal Audit and TPRM. Got an offer for a VP role at a Texas based LMM fund ($300m AUM). It has both deal team and ops team components, there is no formal ops team. Thinking the comp is under market, thoughts? $170k base, 50-75% bonus, carry % still tbd.

I really want to have a career in turnaround & restructuring consulting. But how can I continue now? I have been rejected by AlixPartners (VP role) and Alvarez & Marsal (Internship). I never heard from FTI and BRG after applying. I have no idea how to continue now. Anyone has any insights or tips?
