A little over a year ago, I posted about my boss making constant comments about my salary. Most comments said I must not have been performing well. I want to update that he was fired, not me.

Heard BCG laid off quite a few people this summer. Is this true?

M/SM and above, why do you label a meeting as “touch point” or ask if you can have a “quick chat” when it’s something serious? Millennials like us always assume we’re about to get fired - I actually have been laid off in a meeting with that title. But at my new job, my boss asked for a “quick chat” to literally ask me to change the title of a meeting and then chat about christmas. Now that I’m in management, I want to understand it better.

A friend of mine from a top tier consulting firm was counseled out. Do you consider it ethical that his career counselor is intentially spreading the information to his colleagues and to other consultants from other companies in the project? What can he do about it? Specially that he considers the potential layoff is purely based on the current situation (chargeability was low) and not on his performance (they said that his contribution to BD during his bench time was low)?

EY fish - when you are laid off, is it immediate the day you're told or do you get a little warning?

Most staff/sr assoc would make 80% of salary for the next 4 months if fired & yet firms are considering pay cuts.

After 10 years of working as a FTE PM/producer I’ve now been laid off (thanks Covid) and am looking to start freelancing for the first time. What advice do you have for a new freelance PM/producer?
Also, what kind of insurance do you take out as a freelancer?

Shall I disclose reason for leaving a firm during my initial call with a recruiter from said firm, if I was laid off? Are they privy to that information. Ironically being recruited by that same firm

My account partner is doing a terrible job and will be getting fired—timeline TBD. Given we are living in a pandemic, I want to give them a heads up to start job hunting. How inappropriate is that? How could I do it?

I was one of the big firm stealth layoffs in covid and joined a boutique firm in Sept. They came sort of close to matching my salary but I moved to SoCal and have an opportunity to jump back in to big law and get $100k raise. The people at the small firm are so nice, but hours are nuts and if I’m going to work this much, I might as well get paid more, right? Is it too soon? How do you tell them when the managing partner took you under his wing?

Given the outbreak, are places actually going to be hiring right now? Recently laid off from 9-5 and my freelance is starting to fizzle.

Applied for a position in Johnson and Johnson Canada. Reached the final round 3 weeks back. After not getting any updates I emailed the HR a couple of weeks back. They responded back telling me that they’ll have an update for me the next week. Again I emailed them on Thursday asking if they have anything for me before the long weekend ( Good Friday & Easter). No response whatsoever. Will emailing them again be inappropriate? I desperately need this job

Hi fishes, I got 5+ years of work ex of which 2 years was in domain non IT job. While joining Accenture I was offered level 11 (As SAP functional CONSULTANT) while I believe I should be at level 10. I no longer have access to the Microsoft bowl due to the change in work email address, so I thought I'd see if any Microsoft management (former or current) are in here. I'm looking to confirm that when potentially coming back on at Microsoft, the hiring manager will be able to see my previous connects. I had a great experience at Microsoft, and would like to keep that door open in my mind, though my last connect has what I would call unfair characterizations due to a unique chain of events.

I am a registered sales assistant which means I have my series 7. I also have the 63 and my Life & Health license. I was a financial advisor but the role is commission only so I decided to take a role as an assistant for some time to learn etc. I really like my role, but I only make 32k a year and after taxes I only take home about 25k. I have a gut feeling that I’m not being paid market value but it’s tough to find comparable salaries. Do you think $15.38/hr is a fair wage in this case?
