Will I get fired if I tell my bosses that I don’t want to do loan staff anymore?

Did BCW NY just layoff it’s EA staff?! Seeing a bunch of these names on Connect and very upset that great people were let go!

i just had an excellent review with my supervisors. we are aligned i am ready to be promoted. i will be moving from project manager to senior project manager.

the catch; my company has laid off 75% of its staff, and cut our salaries by 25%.

timing is unclear, since we work in the live entertainment space. what is fair to ask for?

i have 7 years work force experience, am the only one in my position, touch every creative deliverable the agency makes, and updated and streamlined 10+ processes.

Seeing all these “got laid off” posts and I’m honestly surprised. Which firms are laying people off? Thought every firm had staff shortages.

How badly do you have to screw up at a big 4 as a manager to be fired? I've heard of pips at staff/senior level. Would you get put on one at a manager level first or just get fired?

How are the responsibilities of a senior consultant differ from that of a staff consultant at EY? For some context, I received an offer at EY at the senior consultant level, but I was a consultant at Deloitte (before getting laid off due to COVID). Any perspective from EY / Deloitte colleagues would be very helpful. Thanks!

Are people honest with their reviews for staff? My assistant only supports me and someone else so I feel like if I go off, it’ll be obvious it’s from me and I’ll have to face repercussions from her. It sounds ridiculous but as most of you know, apparently being incompetent as an assistant is not enough to get fired.

Left my consulting job after 2.25 years in October 2019 for a venture backed startup. Laid off in March 2020. Joined a VC fund as an intern shorty after, but our fundraise (for our fund) got pushed back.

I was approached about helping grow a small executive recruitment firm focused on private technology companies. I’ll be chief of staff. The company takes $150k/placement + equity. The co expects to hit $1m in rev this year. They also invest in startups.

Should I do it? Is this pigeonholing?

He is a principal software engineer with RSA which was a part of Dell until a week ago. Dell sold the company to a private equity firm that laid off 90% of all US staff.

YOE - 9+ development including 2+ as a technical manager
Skills - Javascript, ember, angular, node, html, css and docker
Roles - principal front end engineer or engineering manager
Requires H-1B transfer and open to relocation

Started working a week after graduating last May. Was on track to be one of the top staff performers and then COVID hit. Since working from home I am one of the lowest performers. Anxiety and stress are crippling my ability to succeed. I have social anxiety which makes wfh communication extremely difficult.

Managers - how much patience would you have with someone who was doing well pre-pandemic but has been struggling ever since? Should I start planning for a new job? (In case I get fired)

Is the hiring slowdown over? I contacted a few firms to inquire about lateral opportunities in late June/early July and was asked to check back in the fall due to hiring freezes. I wonder if I should reach back out or if it's too soon. The news about Skadden's staff layoffs this morning makes me think it's too soon.

I’m so beat. My agency leadership signed up to do the impossible for my client, put me on the hook to deliver it, and everyone who was there for the pitch-promises have run for the hills and are nowhere to be seen while I’m here holding the bag and struggling to deliver on the smoke and mirrors they sold. Key staff were laid off.
I feel abandoned and overwhelmed. It’s tempting to just let it all fail except then I know everyone would point to me. But still, tempting.

I've been laid off from D. I'm seeking a similar role, "Resource Manager" or "Engagement Staffing Manager". To summarize, the role entails working with business managers to help fill open roles, providing available staff, and forecasts, etc.; and working with practitioners as they near or land on the bench. Do other consulting firms, such as EY, PWC, Accenture, etc. have such positions? If so, what are titles do they have? I'm seeking alternative search terms.

Deloitte staff - which areas were affected the most in layoffs?

Do partners usually have a say in staff layoffs? Who decides to lay off the partners?

I’ve heard Undergrad and Graduate placement into firms have been somewhat reduced due to covid. additionally some firms have laid off staff consultants. With this said, what are your guys thoughts on experienced hire recruiting for Summer 2020? Do you expect a highly competitive fall?

I feel like Deloitte is getting real slimey. Putting more than the typical number of staff on PIPs, to give themselves the opportunity to fire people for cause in a month or two without severance or anything.

PwC Repeat of 08 Policy: No layoffs, no furloughs, bonuses are being paid, manager milestone being paid, raises for promoted staff are maintained. Go PwC!

Dallas tax layoffs - 9 in BTS (4 SM, 2 mgr, 3 staff). Int and SALT no layoffs yet but expecting EOW.

Edelman lays off 5% of staff domestically. 50% of data and analytics team laid off in NY. Clearly decision makers understand the industry and what’s valuable (intuition > data)

How are staff selected for layoffs?
