MBB vs FAANG? Discussions

Do folks in tech reach higher levels of compensation than consultants 5 to 10 years post MBA? I still keep in touch with many of my classmates who made a beeline to work for FAANG firms post MBA, and their compensation absolutely dwarfs that of MBB and Big 4 by a fair amount and the gap only seems to widen with time. The wlb, by all accounts, seem to be much better too.

Would love to hear from anyone else who made a similar move or knows others who jumped to tech?

Hello people, please I need a referral for sustainability consulting/analyst roles in MBB or IOGs. Masters in sustainability from Oxbridge + 5yrs exp in operations in Fortune 500 & FAANG.

Assuming your goal is to eventually end up in tech working as a product adjacent role like PMM, strat/ops, etc. role, would you prefer your first gig out of undergrad to be at MBB or a big tech company like FAANG or MSFT? Assume initial comp is similar - both bases around 100k these days.

I’m currently a product manager at a FAANG and my department head recently engaged one of the MBB to help new vertical expansion. My manager and skip have put me as the primary point of contact with the associate and senior consultant - and while I like them as people, it’s clear that this is their first engagement in this vertical and have no understanding of the industry.
How do I navigate this situation and help them help me?

I came across someone on LinkedIn who does | thing | with his job title and he included Ex-Deloitte. I’ve seen ex-MBB and ex-FAANG but never Deloitte. Are people getting a little too generous with the Ex- monicker?

Are MBB exits really that much better than B4/Accenture? I have recruiters from 4/5 FAANG, a few PE firms, random startups here and there and lots of other consulting firms reaching out daily

What are some good feeder companies to HBS asides MBB, Goldman Sachs, Big 4 and FAANG?

How is the network you gain from an MBA program different than the professional network you gain while at a FAANG or MBB? I’m at one of those already and contemplating what I’m really getting in return for an M7 credential.

I wish LinkedIn's job search area had a subfilter option within the "company" filter where you could filter to "Fortune 100" or "FAANG" or "MBB" or "United Nations Agencies," etc. — and it'd apply a filter with a bunch of companies matching that option rather than individually selecting each company that you want to include in a search. That'd feel pretty intuitive and save a lot of time.

People can argue all day about prestige and it’s value, but the healthcare offered at those firms is real and next level.

I know FAANG and big tech are good, and lots of companies are improving benefits in general, but does anywhere else cover 100% of premiums and in network care, and something like 90% for out of network as well?

He wants to pivot out of banking and maybe look for an opportunity with FAANG or with MBB/Tier2 consulting. Any inputs on how to go about this transition, what hiring managers look for and if consulting is an option? TIA

Does anyone have opinions on PepsiCo? Interviewing with their growth strategy team who are mostly ex-MBB from top MBA programs. The work seems interesting and up my alley (CPG Strategy) but this bowls obsession w/ tech makes me think I should be focusing my attentions on FAANG

Nowadays FAANG , top most product based companies and startups are hiring from tier 2/3 colleges and universities . At first they were going for IIT and NITs but now they have changed . But why MBB is not changing. They would always for college tag. Will they ever change?

Hey all, I just got accepted into INSEAD and would appreciate some perspectives on post-MBA positions I may not have thought of. I have experience within technology strategy focusing on M&A, opmodel and Cloud - I also have both Azure expert-level certs in solution architecture and DevOps. Is MBB and management consulting losing its value among young people as employer? Since i noticed majority of young people currently want to work for FAANG, startups, crypto, Unicorns, want to open their own things, etc. I guess in 2000s and 2010s consulting was a top choice for graduates. But what about now? Would love to listen to your thoughts and observations on that one

UVA Pros: Higher ranking, great professors, and a tight knit community

Georgetown Pros: More established part-time program, campus for out of class collab, focus on collab not competition, feels like a good fit especially with its diversity, opportunity to have classes with full time students, lecture+case+experiential learning, and more electives to choose from

I’ve noticed for tech companies. The difference between T2 and MBB is marginal, the process is meritocratic and fit-based that gets you the job. The brand only makes a difference for getting into buyside processes. So wondering if it’s worth taking a BCG offer, vs. Recruiting directly for FAANG.

I'm an ex-MBB Associate currently working in corp strategy for F500 company (consumer). Work life balance is 40 hrs/week and very sustainable. I recently got an offer for biz ops associate for FAANG. Great pay, but seems like FAANG work life balance is not good. Is it worth to pivot to FAANG for long term career opportunities/comp trajectory?

Has anyone ever exited to FAANG/Big Tech after just a couple years of experience? Just curious if it's possible to do so or if that's why everyone tried for an MBA or MBB first because they don't accept anyone without that caliber of experience.

Hey guys, need some advice. I was fortunate enough to get the Consortium fellowship at Ross but am also stuck on the CBS waitlist and am still planning to apply to Wharton in R3. Assuming I get into CBS/Wharton, is there that much of a difference between them to forgo scholarship money? For context, I want to get into product management at FAANG/fintech with pursuing MBB as a plan B. Thanks in advance!
