MBB vs FAANG? Discussions

Does anyone have opinions on PepsiCo? Interviewing with their growth strategy team who are mostly ex-MBB from top MBA programs. The work seems interesting and up my alley (CPG Strategy) but this bowls obsession w/ tech makes me think I should be focusing my attentions on FAANG

My younger brother has the opportunity to do Software Engineering at FAANG and consulting at MBB as a fresh grad. I told him to do SWE, but I’m afraid I’m giving him biased advise cause I’m jaded in this industry. If you were me, what would you advise him?

A quick note about what I’ve experienced, in my decade long career, is the real advantage of MBB or FAANG - it gives you a shot at stretch roles that are outside your expertise. Not all the time or even most of the time compared to better candidates with specific experience for the role but gives you this wildcard shot at a vast array of opportunities.

Does B4 let people go the same day as their resignation only if they’re going to a direct competitor? How about MBB or a tier 2 consulting firm?

Have people been let go immediately in case they go to FAANG or other industry firms?

STARTUP FOUNDERS and FAANG: would you rather hire MBB with 3-4 years of exp or Tier 2 with 5-6 years? If you could isolate those variables and everything else held constant.

Hey guys, need some advice. I was fortunate enough to get the Consortium fellowship at Ross but am also stuck on the CBS waitlist and am still planning to apply to Wharton in R3. Assuming I get into CBS/Wharton, is there that much of a difference between them to forgo scholarship money? Contemplating a career switch into consulting as I want to go non-technical. I don't want to pay 250k for ivy league MBA. I have a MS in computer engg from a top 5 engineering school. 7YOE at a top 3 semiconductor as ML/AI engineer.

I can get 300+ maybe up to 400-450k TC in FAANG but not liking technical stuff anymore.

Do you think aiming for MBB for a Management Consulting[tech domain] role is a stretch given I have no consulting background? What kind of compensation can I expect?

Amid this crisis, are companies including other big 3, MBB, FAANG, boutique consulting firms still giving high raises and issue stocks? Can you share the impact from your firm?

Is it recommended to get two full years of consulting experience before looking for a move elsewhere...for more comp (say to another Big 4, industry, attempt at MBB or FAANG)? Already have 8 yoe in the DoD space outside of consulting. And about 16 months of consulting exp

Currently a big 4 consultant and got an offer from FAANG for a strategy and ops role that would bring my total comp up 60%. I’m really grateful for the offer and really excited, however, I am also interviewing with MBB. It has always been a goal of mine to work for tier 1 strategy firm as I’ve always felt on the outside looking in at big4. I feel like most exit ops from strategy would be S&O industry roles but still can’t get these MBB firms out of my mind. Am I just overthinking this?

Would you take a 15% pay cut to work for MBB vs. getting a 20% raise from FAANG?

MBB AP about to exit to non-FAANG tech. Would you expect a signing bonus and/or pre-determined severance pay if things don't work out with the new company? Anything else that people have negotiated during their exit? I'd be leaving a large amount of bonus on the table to leave before the end of the year.

Working for MBB was my dream throughout undergrad. I just signed an offer for a role I am excited about at FAANG, but I can’t help but feel twinges of jealousy for people who are getting into MBB with the recent increase in experienced hiring. Please help me 🤦🏻‍♀️

Just got another rejection... Is exiting to FAANG or MB really this hard? Trying to go tech.. or mbb, but not getting anywhere. I have 2 masters (mba, ms) from top schools, been in consulting for over 10 years, I am confident that I know my stuff well..but still I keep getting rejected. I have a young student with CVI and extremely limited mobility. She is able to vocalize but not speak. However, I’ve seen her response and mannerisms change (positively) in the presence of parents and siblings which leads me to believe that she is cognizant enough to possible use a communication device.
