I want to apply for an internal role but my wife is pregnant and due in December, which would put me out for 8 weeks due to parental leave offered by the company. If I get an interview would it be best to advise them during the interview since I already work for the organization or if/when an offer is extended?

Can anyone comment on the parental leave policies at PWC, KPMG, and Deloitte? Planning to have a third in the next 1-2 years and EY's parental leave policy is 99% of why I haven't left yet.

Any commentary from other Forensic firms outside of the Big4 also welcome.

EDIT: paternal leave in particular, if there's a distinction, since I'm the Dad.

Hi does anyone know if we are entitled to bank holidays on top of parental leave?

I’m my partners only associate and I went on parental leave two weeks ago. I feel horrible for leaving him to handle our cases alone, but am trying to focus on my wife and new baby. That being said, should I still offer to handle minor matters that come in to ease the workload off my boss? He’s been super cool during my entire leave, so I don’t feel pressured to one bit.

Hello, I have been on parental leave for two years. I will have an interview with a bank tomorrow to possibly go back to work as a sales assistant for a banker.... I was making around USD 160k at my last job, would it be feasible if I ask for the same salary given my leave?

I was talking with my director the other day about how I think the US should be implementing longer maternity leave policies and generally better parental leave policies for parents who have given birth/had a partner give birth/adopted a child, and she said it was "a crackpot idea meant to push socialist agendas." Where do I even start...The countries with better parental leave policies are MILES ahead of us.

This is the opposite direction of typical questions here. I am a bit frustrated by the pto, parental leave, and holiday time I have at my current job (f500) vs previous big 4 benefits. How soon is too soon to go back to consulting? Left about a year ago. I do enjoy the slower pace and no up or out pressure though of my current F500

Looking at 2 offers in industry with the same base+LTI: Offer Option 1) Finance industry, Bonus 40%, Director level, managing a team, 20d PTO, 10d sick, 12holidays, 19 weeks fully paid parental leave, F150 company 2) Retail industry, Bonus says Variable year-to-year in offer but they verbally said 20%, IC role, no direct reports, 15d PTO, no cap on sick time, 12 weeks parental, F30 company. What would you choose?

Managers who have had employees they like take 6-9 months of parental leave.

Can you please be honest and share your feelings about them during and after their leave, and how that may have changed from their pre-parenthood time?

Good people can have resentment. I'm just curious if the real perspective of managers rather than the "socially acceptable" ones.. Many thanks

Any opinions on fathers taking parental leave immediately, all at once, spaced out, or a few weeks after birth? Wife is staying home full time so we don’t need to worry about her leave.

Question regarding parental leave:
I advocated for years to get 10 weeks paid parental leave for our EEs, which we finally initiated Jan. 1. Wouldn’t you know it…the first person who took leave came back part-time for a couple of weeks and then resigned. For those of you who manage paid leave policies, what measures have you implemented to prevent or deter this type of behavior? Any advice or recommendations?

Thoughts on companies providing equal parental leave for both parents? Pros and cons for both

2 offers with the same comp package (base, bonus, and LTI) and similar titles. Option 1) 23B yearly revenue, way better benefits, double the amount of parental leave, would have a team of direct reports…. Option 2) 72B yearly revenue, no direct reports, benefits are just OK (medical is kinda expensive TBH) but easy WLB, and I would be a boomerang so I already know the culture. What would you choose?

I was recently promoted to Senior Brand Manager and my manager is going on parental leave soon. Her role will open up. Would it be appropriate if I apply for her role? Or would it be considered too early?

Any thoughts on OpenText? I’m in a final interview with them and two other companies. Company 1 sent me a clear view of benefits:

100% health care coverage
6 months paid parental leave
Unlimited PTO

What I’m able to find about OpenText is just through Glassdoor which doesn’t have clear info. I’m sure they’re not as good as company 1 but would appreciate any thoughts on pros/cons and also if anyone actually knows that benefits, that would be awesome!!

I’m a male junior associate. I took 2 months paternity leave (we get up to 3 months) last year when my wife had a baby but now she’s pregnant again and I’m wondering if it’s a bad idea to take it again within a year of already having taken it. My group is super supportive of taking parental leave but does it look bad to take it again?

What’s an appropriate internal and external out of office for parental leave when I am definitely NOT checking my email? I’m a 6th year associate for context.

What’s the expectation of when to tell your team you’re expecting?
Managers of people when would be preferable to know when a staff member is expecting? How much advance notice before parental leave?

I recently accepted a position with a new org. Now I’ve been sent the employee handbook to review/sign and it says only 12 weeks, which is less than the org I’m leaving. What might my recourses be to negotiate 16 weeks when the time comes? Also, should I be viewing this is a red flag?

Has anyone taken STD/parental leave at both Js?

I’ve seen a lot of discussions on parental leave. Please look at FMLA requirements. If you meet them you have up to 480 hours of unpaid time off every year that cannot be denied for any reason. Trump also signed a bill giving 6 weeks of paid time off for federal employees after child birth.

I am 5 months pregnant and my current organization does not give me maternity leave benefits. Is it a good idea to switch to a different organization who give parental leave? Also should I tell the hiring organization about my pregnancy?
