Found a job that sounds great for me… it’s part time. Why does Google have part time roles? Is this for covering someone on parental leave?

Thoughts on leaving a company right after parental leave? Would you think that burns bridges? Feeling like our current family job structure (read: both parents in industries working 60-80 hours a week) won’t be conducive to how we want to raise our kids but also anxious about how leaving will be perceived

Has anyone left Morgan Stanley after parental leave? Can you quit right after leave is over for another job or do you have to put in your two weeks first? Also can you use your vacation after you put your two weeks in?

Following the previous post. I found out I was pregnant two weeks after I signed my offer. If everything goes well, my delivery will be 7 months into my new role. When is a good time to tell my boss? Thanks! I already know that because it would be less than a year when I deliver, I won’t qualify for the additional 6 weeks of parental leave.

My company is trying to come up with a new policy for maternity and paternity leave. Right now we only have six weeks unpaid. couple ideas were thrown out there like two weeks paid or maybe a year with intermittent leave. What are your guys thoughts on paid parental leave?

Joining a new company soon. My new company gives only 10 weeks of maternity leave. Since it won’t be a year yet if I can make it to labor, I won’t have the additional weeks of parental leave. I am in CO. Are there any labor laws that give me additional time off? Thanks!

Should you ask about benefits, PTO, parental leave, etc. after you get an offer or during interviews? I don’t want my questions to seem to imply I’m looking “too much” into the ancillaries before even getting an offer.

Do you need to be at Deloitte for over a year before using the parental leave? Can you use the full 16 weeks and/or can you break it up how you want? Any repercussions such as performance or bonus affected? Ideally I’d like to break it and use it at different times of the year. Joining the firm soon and having a child later this year (father btw).

Misled on Maternity Leave Policy. I found out I only get 4 weeks pay for maternity leave (STD +“sick days”). I will take 12 weeks but wont get paid for 8 weeks. I work for a US, west coast based company in the tech/VC industry. Their website claims to offer “paid parental leave and other progressive benefits for parents”. I didn’t find out until after I was hired their pay was only 8 weeks but since I have been at the company less than 12 months, I don’t qualify for their policy. Is this unfair?

Going to a competitor. I told my PML about 2 weeks ago and have been on a parental leave and will officially put in notice when i return from LOA. PML is saying i need to put in notice now since i accepted offer from competitor and they will shut me down ASAP and that i shouldn’t have taken my leave. Is this really an HR thing or my PML bullsh*tting me out of spite?

I have been offered a position in-house at a $500M-$1B company, mid-sized city LCOL, 10 YOE in private practice. They offered me $120k, w opp for undefined discretionary bonus. No paid parental leave or 401(k) match & only 1 week PTO in first year (but claim they have discretion for more). Is there any way to salvage this? Salary guides suggest TC should be around $200-215k. I want to get my foot in the door but this seems crazy low.

Has anyone put together gifts for new fathers at their company? We've had a couple of recent first time mother's but have a first time father coming up. I'm assuming most of the items can be the same as they were focused more on the baby or like door dash gift cards, but is there anything father specific i should include before he starts his parental leave?

So incredibly frustrated with my company’s maternity policy. 0 parental leave and 6 weeks at 60%. I was told when I joined parental leave was changing for the better to be tech driven, and now pregnant I’m told that leadership changed their mind. Love coming back from parental leave to discover my leadership wants to replace me with my backfill and would like me to find a new work stream for myself or leave the project. Very cool.

About to take parental leave and there is a very high chance I will not come back. And it feels really good. That is all.

Does KPMG have a clawback policy for parental leave if you don't stay with the firm for a certain period of time after it's over? I'll be taking leave in a few months and have been toying with the idea of leaving for a different line of work, so I want to make sure I don't put myself in a financial bind by leaving too soon.

Our company currently doesn’t offer company-sponsored STD nor paid parental leave/FMLA.
We had a pregnant EE inquire about paid leave. I’m trying to get the executive team onboard to approve a paid parental leave policy but they are asking for the financial implication to the organization before approving such a program.
Is there a formula that I can use to try to estimate the financial implication of implementing paid parental leave? This EE works in MD but we have EE’s in several states.

Any updates on firms matching Ropes & Gray parental leave policy? It’s been crickets since that Above the Law article came out. I expected more movement following that release.

I am in the final stages of interviewing at a company in a mid-size regional city in the southeast. I just found out they want to keep salary near $110k. I have 10 YOE and told them I’m targeting roles closer to $150k. I don’t know the full offering of benefits but assume it is bad (I know they have no current 401(k) match or paid parental leave, e.g.). Is there any way to negotiate this up or should I give up? $110 seems extremely lowball to me. That’s what first-years at big firms make here.

I received an offer and asked about their parental leave. I don't plan on having kids anytime soon but would like to in 3-5 years and hope I can start a long-term career here. Was that a weird question to ask? The company initially responded that they are rewriting it so I didn't get much detail.

Hi question from Deloitte fishes, Deloitte seems to have a great parental leave plan, I was wondering if that applies to anyone who joins Deloitte or you should have a specific tenure with Deloitte to be eligible?

Employer provides parental leave of 2 weeks for secondary caregiver. Just started exploring NY PFL. Looks like the eligibility is upto 12 weeks for New York employees. Pay can be a max of 100%. Wondering if anyone on H-1B has taken NY PFL previously. Any pros/cons/things to consider?
