Curious what other people's parental leave looks like for companies of a similar size and industry. We are about 150 employees in the CPG (beverage) space. We want to improve/expand our paid leave. How much paid time do you give your employees? Do you give the same amount for the primary and secondary caregiver? Please include your company size and industry.

Starting remote at a new firm tomorrow after taking 3 weeks between jobs as parental leave after my wife had a baby. Can’t help but feel guilty about leaving her to take care of the little one all day and all night with less help from me (we asked parents to wait bc of covid). Anyone else dealt with feelings like this going back after parental leave?

I found out today that my employer doesn’t offer any paid parental leave (maternity or paternity). This isn’t a major issue now, but my wife and I are planning on trying in a year or so from now. How many other employers don’t offer any paid leave at all? Coming from public accounting this seemed outrageous to me, but curious to see what other companies are like.

What is the parental leave policy at your firm? Please include: (1) size of firm; (2) location of firm; (3) how many paid weeks off (from firm - not state/fed); (4) other perks, such as ramp up/down time, etc.

As a male mid-level/senior associate, can you take the full parental leave (10-14 weeks) and come out without impact on partnership prospects? What are questions I should be asking to get at this issue before accepting a lateral offer? Quiz recent junior partners with kids? Seems a bit aggressive but may be necessary.

Can someone help me out with maternity leave at EY? It says parental leave of 16 weeks after one year of service so does that mean you get nothing if pregnant and have not done a year yet ?

Just got an offer at ACN as a Strategy Manager and HR made it clear that parental leave was 2 weeks fully paid for men. Theoretically up until 12 weeks is covered by NY State ($900 weekly). What would you do? Have you seen men take a few months off for parental leave in consulting even if unpaid?

I am due to take 2 weeks parental leave sometime in the next month and have an offer lined up. Is it better to tell the new place I would prefer to push my start date to take my leave and join two weeks after (accounting for 2 weeks of notice when I get back)? Would that be burning a bridge with current firm (taking leave and giving notice as soon as I am back)? I want to avoid losing 2 weeks of salary during that time if I can.

I hope this administration implements Federal parental leave. I don't understand how and why we still tout ourselves as the greatest country in the world, and we don't even have basic paid parental leave.

Why exactly is the lateral market so hot? More deals going on? People leaving big law completely? More people taking parental leave? A mix of these things?

KPMG partners, could you tell me what the implications are for taking 4 months maternity leave as a partner? I should be up for partner promotion next year and might be having a child as a partner. I'm guessing if you meet your targets, it doesn't really matter how much maternity leave you take as a partner but wanted to hear your thoughts on how parental leave (especially 4 months) affected your compensation, client relationships, teams, etc.

Turned in my 2 wks. EM asked me to stay for another week bc manager will be on parental leave around the same time (and sounds like EM is pressuring him as well). Should I consider at all?? Felt a bit guilty to leave the pressure on the manager…

Currently on parental leave. As a father I’m so dang thankful my firm has it and I can’t imagine how my immigrant parents manage to raise two kids without leave.

McK and BCG 🐟, do you all accrue tenure while you’re on parental leave? If so, how much?

How much notice is required before taking parental leave at BCG? Is there something required per rule or is it more just best practice to give 60/90 days notice to give folks time to plan/schedule around it?

EY, what is the current maternity leave policy? Does the firm allow leave starting at 38 weeks? Is disability (6-8 weeks) separate from parental leave (16 weeks)? When is full eligibility - after 12 months of employment?

Was just told by the recruiter from Deloitte during the official offer conversation that non-primary caregiver paid parental leave is 3 weeks???? Still a couple years away, but this is far less than I’d seen.

EY fishes: I’m considering an offer to move over to EY, but I’m trying to understand the Pathways to Parenthood program in more detail. Specifically the reimbursement for fertility treatments and time until your eligible for them. Do you need to have worked at EY for a year to use this benefit or is that just for the parental leave portion of the program? I’ve called and asked both the recruiter and HR and can’t get a straight answer. Any info would be amazing!

That feeling when your old firm was racist and didn’t offer parental leave and is now putting on a show of how woke and family friendly they are. 🤷🏻‍♂️
