Hello I am from out of state and would like to know what is the average salary of a 1st year personal injury associate in Middletown, New York please? Or in N.Y.C?
Why is it that people/partners always say they typically lose money on associate until year 3. If a first year associate receipts are 3x the salary I don’t see how the firm is losing money.
On avg. what’s the starting salary for a brand associate (brand side) in NYC? Glass door estimates were around $75,000, is that accurate? Are people still negotiating their salaries during Covid? Is that something a person should do?
Any independent contractors? I work for a firm that pays a base salary. Any hours I clock above my base salary, I’ll get 33% of my hourly rate. I’m a first year associate. Is that about normal?
Recently laid off at mid-sized NYC real estate litigation firm (first year associate making $120k before cuts in April, then $112k). I was invited to interview at a small firm and asked salary requirements. Should I give a range or specific number?
I've often heard about the 1/3 rule when it comes to associate comp (you should be making about 1/3 of what you're bringing in). How big of a gap would you expect an associate to tolerate before asking for a change in comp? I'm on track for about a $75,000 gap between 1/3 of my collections and my comp. My firm is technically not lock step but does seem to be defacto lock step. I lateraled April of 2019 from a boutique so I'm unsure how this is generally handled.
Does anyone have avg comp numbers for PE ops Associate or Manager? I’m interested in the work but salaries for the smaller firms that have approached me have been very low (120-140k base) want to get an idea if that’s normal. Thanks!
looking for a salary range for an associate strategy director role in NYC, 8 years of experience. big holding company. position would be a level up from my current one. seems like ~$140k is a good starting point? don’t want to lowball myself!
1.5 years into consulting and got an offer at respected family office for an investment associate role starting in 2-3 months. Competitive comp. Is it worth waiting for other non-cycle processes at more traditional buy out shops or take what you can get? I’m not in a rush to leave my current job and up for promotion soon FWIW

Hi everyone. I'm a second year associate at an AmLaw 200 firm. I mostly do insurance coverage work with a sprinkle of high exposure GL cases. I recently realized that I hate the work that I do. I absolutely dread waking up everyday to bill 8 hours. I honestly am getting depressed every day. I'm trying to figure out an exit strategy to compete with my salary, low 100s, but also have no billable requirement. In-house? Plaintiff work? Compliance? Please help!!!

Close to getting an offer at a top 20 PE firm in their ops team focusing on supply chain as a specialist, based in NYC. Have ten yrs of big 4 S&O consulting experience and am one year away from associate partner. How much comp should I be targeting? Split between base and bonus would be ideal. Unfortunately don’t have much knowledge around comp targets here. Am currently around 275k all in.
Looking to go onto the Brand side from an ad agency. I’m currently a senior account executive (4.5year exp) hoping to secure a position as associate brand manager. Should I aim higher, and how much salary range should I ask?

Applied for what I thought was freelance for an agency but instead they’re offering a ‘short-term hire’ position that lasts 3 months and includes PTO, medical, and 401k. Why would they offer that? Is this worth it? I’m already insured and a 3-month 401k plan seems odd to me...
I did such a good job at work, the PM volunteered to do extra work with a stakeholder that’s Hades himself.... any tips on how to start effing up without getting fired? 😭😭😭
