Hi all, I'm curious how much of the 'One McKinsey' model is really true at least at the national level. I have an offer from a tier 2 city (Seattle, Denver, Austin, etc). I have always been fascinated by McKinsey's reputation of being able to work on a project anywhere in the country regardless of your home office and traveling often for work (yes I want this lifestyle). Is this still the case? Or is it generally hard to get on cases outside of your local office?

Anyone else get frustrated when a manager ‘thinks’ they’re being helpful by actively telling you that a lot of the stuff you do to help manage your ADHD is unnecessary and there’s a better way to do it? Like they mean well, but even when I try to tell them I do it for a reason they think I’m just being difficult - e.g. work in a team room with headphones on, have a physical to do list, have a bunch of tabs/docs open at one time, bring a second monitor, take regular short breaks etc.

NJ based company with many remote employees. Considering opening up opportunities to CA residents but nervous as I know they have different labor laws. What are the most obvious ones that stick out that I should be considering(i.e reimbursement of home office expenses, wage transparency)? We offer private STD/LTD, equipment package, all exempt salary employees.

Just scheduled a meeting to go over an offer for a Senior Engineer role. When asked what I would need to make in order to leave my current job, I said at least $160k depending on benefits (I know I shouldn't have given a number).

I make a little over $145k now, plus stock options, a monthly home office stipend (fully remote), and your usual health benefits.

Assuming their benefits are comparable to my current position, have I given up all negotiation power by providing the initial number?

Question about freelance income — I make 80k at my W-2 dayjob and have a 401k, but I found out I’m going to have to pay 20,000 in taxes this year out of my freelance income. I saw some people talking about a SEP IRA — is this something I’d be allowed to do with an employer 401k? Do I email my accountant for this? I have very little deductions & home office is small, so if the SEP can let me keep some money, that’d be lovely. Thank you!

I have got an offer for a remote position. Company has made it look like they are approving remote as per my request. They have mentioned - "as per your request, we are approving remote working .."
Whole offer letter is driven like company is considering my request, so there will not be any reimbursement for home office, internet . I may need to travel to office if required, again no mention of expense reimbursement.

Is it fair on company's part to mention like above? I didn't ask for remote.

Is people at D leaving? Heard they are mandating everyone work from home office rather than wfh. If so that’s so bizarre.
