Which is your go to in terms of simplicity- Teams, WebEx, Zoom
I have this new client using Webex, I just don’t like the video quality, recording, the whole webex environment lol

Currently working from home with a newborn. Does anyone have a headset with mic they’d recommend that would help with background noise reduction during Zoom calls?

As a project manager, WFH has me in a prison of chat and email all day, so the tools now matter a lot more than they used to. What agencies (or in-house even) DON’T use Microsoft Teams/Outlook? (Ie, Google or Slack, or something else?)

What business-y tools do you all use for tracking projects, time, meetings, etc for design work?

Right now my planned list is as follows (planning to switch to full time freelance soon), advice welcome! Would love to see others’ lists.

• Trello - tracking projects/to-dos
• Google calendar - meetings etc
• tbd (been using excel but want something different) - time tracking
• Zoom - meetings
• Evernote - note-taking
• Google drive - file storage

Am I missing anything?! Other tools? Help :)

How many emails and/or Slack messages do you receive and respond to on a typical day? My employer wants everything answered within 24 hours but in reality responses need to be made almost immediately. This makes getting back on task and being productive almost impossible when there are constant interruptions. Any advice on this or asking for accommodations? I think my best option is to change jobs.

What’s the etiquette for having children in an interview.
I was laid off with a 4 month old and husband is back to work, daycare has a two year wait list, if my 4 month old chills on my lap during a zoom interview, will that be judged if I can’t get a sitter in time?

Anyone think in person training is better than through Zoom or Teams? The firm I work for just hired a new legal assistant for one of the offices. The office managers want me to train her through Teams instead of in person because they don’t want to pay me to travel (it’s about a two hour drive). She had two days with the previous person before she left. I want to travel because she’s struggling but managers say no. Another reason I despise office managers. And makes me want to leave.

Is 3 days, 4 hours & 1 presentation too much? I’m interviewing for a Director of Product Marketing position at a start-up. I’ve already had my screener with the recruiter and round 1 Zoom interview with the hiring manager. Now I’ve been invited to 4 more hours of interviews across 3 days, with one of those hours being a presentation of a case study I have been instructed to “only spend a few hours on”. I have a day job too…This seems like a bit much, but want to hear others’ thoughts.

My location is gurgaon and the same is written on the offer letter as well. But now when i see my Microsoft teams profile it shows Bangalore location. Earlier it was gurgaon only. I just joined on 15th july. What could be the reason?

If one more AE posts "does anyone know the status of [INSERT PROJECT I AM WORKING ON]?" in a group slack I will resort to violence.

What are some things you need a break from? I’ll go first: the teams/slack notification sound. Shoot me.

Struggling with this, I have no sober community as I’m in a suburb with average AA access and haven’t connected with anyone at meetings. Zoom meetings are good but you don’t build 1:1 connections.

Interviewed for a HR Manager position today virtually over zoom & one Director had her camera on & the other Director had her camera off? I thought that was weird? Also, has any HR Professionals during the interview stage been asked to supply “writing samples” of an involuntary termination script and an example of a PIP? Not sure how I feel about supplying this information? This is a first for me … Any information is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

What’s your go to sign-off of your Zoom calls?

A coworker (diff depts) and I realized we live in the same neighborhood after running into each other on the street. We started talking more in the office and he ended one convo with “we should get drinks sometime”. I gave him my number via slack and said to hit me up when he wants to get together. Hadn’t heard from him in a couple weeks then connected him to my friend who works for a company he’s trying to sell to. Then he asked if I’d set him up with my friend :( think I have any chance?

Microsoft Teams was down today, hence had the opportunity to meet my team in Person.

Does anyone work at expedia that can tell me if they use microsoft teams to do interviews? I got a job offer and not gonna lie it's extremely sus.

Are y’all wearing ties to zoom interviews? Maybe good place to ask those in recruiting, I’m not in recruiting so are the candidates wearing ties ?

My side gig is grading practice essays as a bar exam tutor. The bar exam is next week and I’m burnt TF out from grading so many essays this summer. So, today, I made the student grade their own essay as a “self critique” during our session. I also came in from work right before the session. Took my suit off and couldn’t be bothered to find other pants. So I totally did the zoom session in my boxers and a t-shirt. IDGAF.

Anyone else using Shift as all in one slack/email/calendar client it’s seeming to make my life so much easier. Anyone else!?

I have a tenant who is late on rent after having JUST signed an updated lease last month when we bought the property from the previous owner. He has a history of being late on rent. He paid 8 days late and the check bounced. He is now 17 days late and saying the late fees are too much and unfair. We have a meeting set with him tonight and my question is whether we should cut him slack, or make him pay up or leave. Fee details are in comment 1

How do you keep politics/current events out of your teams and organizations/culture during these hyper tribal and partisan times? Of course I’ve said the standard “no discussion of religion/politics. no matter what your stance/viewpoint is.” That doesn’t seem to work though.
People still post memes in Slack. People still make underhanded political comments in meetings. Etc etc. I rolled a manager off of the project in a very public way as an example, but that only temporarily improved behavior.

What are we wearing for zoom job interviews? I had one zoom interview a year ago and wore the same blouse and blazer I would for an in person interview, but I’m curious what others are doing (specifically ladies but I welcome any input from men)

Are all interviews now setup via Zoom? I feel like Zoom doesn’t really give you a feel for a candidate. Is this a new trend. What happened to in person?
