I haven’t done an in-person interview in years and have one coming up next week for a lateral senior associate position. Do interviewees these days take anything with them, such as a notepad to take any notes? It was nice being able to have a cheat sheet with some questions to ask during the Zoom interview days.

Honest question and please don’t troll: do partners or the firm in general have ability to monitor Skype conversations without due cause?

For the remote folks, any recs for virtual holiday team activities besides the usual zoom holiday happy hour?

Am I the only person who likes to review documents at a tiny zoom % so that all text essentially looks sub size 8? I find it way easier to read this way.

If we’re doing work over zoom anyway, does it really matter whether the work is done at home or in the office? My employer is having us do all of our work over zoom calls with coworkers, but having us do it at our desks at work so we can all struggle to hear each other over the background noise. Is it so important to an employer than an employee physically be there even if they don’t need to be there to do their work?

Anyone else’s typical non-depo, non-mediation day look like mine? 8:30 - 10:00 court appearance via Zoom or Court Call with a ton of emails from support staff regarding routine things. 10-4:00 quiet time for drafting, research, etc. 4:00-7:00 emails and phone calls from opposing counsel either responding to my email from 3 days prior or to make a request. I’m busiest at the start and end of my day.

The more interviews I have, the less professional I become. Just had an interview today, a group interview at that, and I was definitely the most professional dressed out of the interviewees and the interviewer. And I was dressed business casual! And I’m not exaggerating! There were beanies, graphic tees, hair all over the place, 2 people were in their car (no zoom background) and one person NEVER muted their background convos. If I make it to round 2, I’m interested to see if any of them do too

I had an interview with an important bank via Skype Business.... the two interviewees heard me well, however to my disappointment and disadvantage, I could hardly hear them.... I had to put my ear next to the camera when they Spoke to me to understand what they were saying.... overall I feel the interview went well, and I loved the possibility of this job. Do you think the tech issue I had would disqualify me from this job? Please let me know your thoughts....

Note taking tips? I am SO bad at taking notes and remembering tasks. I have ADHD and have always struggled but for some reason it got worse in a job versus college. Does anyone know of good note taking tools? There are a few AIs that I have dabbled with for processing transcripts. Anything ideas for automated note taking and task tracker for zoom meetings? Not just a transcription tool.

I was trying to copy and paste a Slack thread the other day and it’s impossible without a lot of manual reformatting. Is there a way to do this more easily?

I was r-ped and have been struggling so much even with meds and therapy 2x/weeks and using up all my vacation time. After years of being a very high biller and extremely well-liked, I’m getting hounded by partners for low hours (and tbh, lower work quality). So frustrating that I didn’t build up enough goodwill to buy me some grace through a tough time. Partners, if associates have generally been great, cut them some slack for a few rough months. You don’t know what else is going on.

Ghosted after call back interview. Normal? Large Midwest firm. I had a zoom interview then an interview in person at their office. I sent handwritten thank you notes and asked one of the interviewers if they could give me a rough timeline. She said she sent my question to the recruiting committee but they never got back to me. A week later I sent an email to the recruiting coordinator asking for an update and also got silence. Safe to assume I’m out? I have another interview elsewhere soon..

Apparently my company is top heavy. Meaning there’s a lot of “project managers”. Than people who do the analytical client facing work. Once you get all the data you just give it to them and they basically do nothing with it, charge hours until the report is needed. I have people managing me (scientist) who aren’t qualified. They literally can’t do the work by portocol. They get paid more than me to sit on zoom meeting and discuss work I did. I feel underpaid and overworked. Is something wrong?

Hello! Advice needed.

I was recently paired with a newly hired copywriter. I feel like I’m having to pick up a lot of the slack in the team (writing scripts, editing idea write ups to be coherent, catching typos, pushing the language so it’s not so “straight”).

Just feels like I’m at a different “level” than this person (not trying to be pretentious, just truthful so I can get good advice). Not sure if it’s them getting used to the new job or maybe less experience?

A majority of my experience is in the logistics and logistics technology side of sales. I’ve been working remotely doing over the phone/ zoom demo sales. But I would love the opportunity to service my clients in person!

Few things are more annoying than wasting makeup getting ready for a zoom interview and then the meeting is cameras off. Would it be unprofessional to ask up front if they meeting/interview will be cameras on/off? It's there as protocol like 1st round/screening with HR is cameras off but interior wish hiring manager cameras on?

What value do TPMs provide? In my company all they seem to do is tell other people to work on things they’re already working on, and incessantly nag people on slack for status updates and timelines which you’ve already provided.
