Has anyone heard anything about Constangy Brooks? I can’t seem to find any salary info but they seem like a good firm on Vault.
I’m currently working at a law firm in San Diego specializing in coastal property rights as a litigation paralegal and legal assistant. We received a minute order from a preliminary injunction hearing. Our client was ordered to post an injunction bond of $2,500. First our client walked to the courthouse to try to pay the bond up front, but they would not accept his money. He tried to call several bond companies, but all said the amount was too small. So how do you post an injunction bond?
If you are at a big law firm that is not increasing pay according to market this year, should you look elsewhere? Is that a bad sign?
How soon is too soon to be preparing for a lateral move? I did my 1L summer internship in a niche area of securities law, loved it, took courses on it. I decided I wanted to explore securities law a little more broadly and not to pigeonhole myself. The firm I’m at is great—doing sec lit—but has zero work in that niche area that I liked. I’m afraid that I am passing on a passion, and I don’t want to get too “old” for a firm to take me on if I have zero experience in a specialty area. Advice? Thx
I’m not happy where I’m at, my abilities aren’t being maximized as I’m spread thin, and I know I’m being undervalued. Recently graduated and in property management w/ 3-4 years sales experience. Currently on the hunt for Sales/Account Management roles leaning more towards consumer goods, then tech. Any advice?
How often do you respond to emails from law students who want to learn about your firm/practice area? I get like a dozen requests right around OCI every year. Frankly I’m tired of speaking to them and answering the same boring questions, especially if I know they have a low GPA and no chance of summering at my firm, but I do feel bad saying no/ignoring them
I’m mid-level in my HR career at my current company and an upcoming Master’s graduate. Studying for my SHRM-CP too. How did you make the transition to that next level? What skills do you need, or is it really just based on YOE (I am the youngest compared to my teammates, many who have 10+ YOE)? I feel like career pathing is not very clear at my company. Each time I ask for guidance on this from my manager, I get told they’ll look into it.... would love some external mentorship and thoughts 🙏🏼

What’s the more persuasive federal authority? 1. District Court opinion in the same state but different district, or 2. Circuit Court opinion from a different circuit.
Hello, curious to know what other companies do for employee spotlights besides the traditional email blast to the company. Any recommendations to better the experience for employees?
I’m a 2016 grad making $120k in a small to mid-size regional firm. I’m based in Nashville. My firm’s management is trying to survey other small to mid-size regional firms to get a feel for where the comp is now, especially in light of the big law increases that are making headlines, and to see just how far below market we may have fallen. Any additional data points from smaller regional firms (especially if you have a presence in Nashville or across the SE) would be appreciated! TIA
What is salary range for experienced Tax MD from Big 4 at mid-tier firm like BDO? Anyone made the move? Regrets? Recommendations? advice for offer negotiations?
When a law firm is looking for a 33/34 act attorney does it need an one working primarily with public companies? Or private companies as well? I’m a corporate and securities attorney, all my clients are private EGC and PE/ VC/ hedge funds, I usually ensure that they are exempted from 33/34 acts
Anybody have the feeling, especially in BigLaw, that your firm stiffs support staff? (More info in comments).
Does anyone have recommendations for good legal recruiters in LA/Southern CA? Currently in-house, looking for other in-house roles. Thanks in advance!
Why do lawyers love saying “and the like”
Are you folks happy with your decision to make a career in sales? I’m young working in tech sales, but also have my bachelors in psychology, and could see my self happily going for my masters maybe even PHD and being a counselor.
To those who have several years of experience ion TA: Do you think staying in the campus recruiting space limits you? Should one try to get exposure to other HR areas for the long run?
There’s this 2nd/rising 3rd year in my group who’s CONSTANTLY dropping the ball in my cases. Now he’s simply gone on vacation without telling me and I’ve been left scrambling to respond to a gov’t request. I’m about to strongly suggest to the partners that this person should be fired. Dumb move?
Any recommendations for places to stay in Mexico City? I heard about Selena online. My partner and I are in our mid/late-twenties and down to explore the city. Not looking for a snazzy hotel but maybe any nicer hostels with people a bit older would be great!
Starting a 22-week project in NYC next week..what hotels/bars/restaurants you guys and gals recommend?
New job making me bring my own iphone (only iphone allowed) and they will reimburse me for finance charges + monthly cost. I currently work for an Apple competitor so rocking an Android flagship. Phone is new so can trade-in to cover full cost of iphone but dont really want to be subsidizing the new company. Can I trade in phone to cover cost but still charge new company the full monthly finance fee?
Is it normal/fine to confirm with a partner the language in a paragraph in a document prior to sending out to a client if you are not 100% sure it is correct? I’m in capital markets and securities and often times am unsure of what to include/how to word, particularly for private offerings. The answer seems to be obvious (yes) but I am a year and a half into traditional practice with prior adjacent experience and don’t want to be seen as not confident or that I am not progressing.
Best place to learn alteryx for free and then best way to portray knowledge when applying for jobs. I’m not at a firm that uses it or offers training.
Approaching 4 years of working in internal departments (currently in Finance) and looking to transition into consulting, is anyone willing to provide me a referral/tips on what teams I should be looking to join? My background is in Finance, but I'm mainly interested in data analytics - proficient with Excel, and learned how to use Python, SQL, and Power BI (at a beginner level).
If you interview once and get rejected, how long before you can apply again? For similar roles?
Has anyone given an interview in Google for the SAP ABAP profile? Just want to understand the interview process and various rounds.
One thing Covid has taught me, sort of, is that I have no friggin’ clue how to manage adhd. When work was so unpredictable, I begged to WFH when I was overwhelmed- and did 10x better. But having to start full time with a company 💯 remote SUCKS- I can’t get shit done. There’s nothing engaging without team morale to motivate me through dull shitty work. My brain would rather redecorate/organize/tidy/cozy up my space than learn something new that I’m not even the least bit interested in.
Can anyone recommend good books or articles on startup org charts and hiring? Think we’ve hit early signs of product/market fit, but not sure who to hire next, in what order, and how the org should evolve over next few years.
I’m considering taking 6-12 months off after 2 years at deloitte post-undergrad. I’ve performed very well, but I am being ground to a nub. I haven’t taken a real break in a long time, I am incredibly stressed out, and I think I just need some time/space before making my next career move. A two-week PTO won’t cut it. Anyone who’s done the same have advice? How was your time away?
With reviews happening at Golin, what is your role and salary? How much was your raise? Were you promoted? How much was your salary boost? What city are you based in?
Hi everyone! Current analyst studying for the LSATs. Does the school you go to really weigh on the full time opportunities you can get? Can your network work just as well?
“Working” remote. Latte, laptop, eye on my kids in ski school, powder accumulating rapidly. And don’t worry, I’ll get a solid 5 hours in the hill. Bonus points to whoever can name the hill (no Goog)
Last Sunday, my wife was flying United from JFK to LAX and her flight was delayed over 9 hours. I’ve never even heard of a delay this long. They’re offering $125 voucher or 6250 points which is pretty pathetic. What kind of comp would you expect? We’d like a refund for that leg ~$500 but she doesn’t have any status
