How do your companies recognize technical (e.g., STEM) accomplishments? I’ve heard of old school things like fellowships and “Distinguished Engineer” titles. Wondering what other places do now. I’m struggling to see where my path leads if I don’t want to be a people manager and instead focus on becoming a top technical IC instead. Are there clear paths for that anymore?

Is anyone else having this issue? Since COVID in June, I have had so many unemployment requests that are fraudulent. We report to our state, and I am getting requests for employees that had no change in pay/hours (white collared* workers) that when I ask if they filed the answer is always no. Last week, I had an executive that had a false claim.

Is it just me or comments like “best compliment i ever received, you’re not like any HR” implying that in general HR people are the worst are an offense against profession? I get it, we’re always the ones to blame, but when our own peers do that?

Classic awkward need to address body oder in the workplace. We have truck drivers who share trucks and the other drivers at the point of wanting to leave. We’ve already talked once this employee but nothing has changed. How far can we go? Write-up? Eventual termination if there is a refusal to shower? We do not have specific policies on hygiene.
