Any strategies or resources you could recommend for getting rid of the dreaded annual performance review (or at least lessening the dread) and creating a more effective year round performance feedback system? Our review is currently tied to our end of year bonuses and merit increases, so not sure I could get rid of it entirely. This would be for hourly and management employees, all working on-site.

How much value do companies place on HR experience in a specific industry? My thought is that HR is HR wherever you go, and it shouldn’t be difficult to switch industries (e.g. manufacturing to financial services), mid- to late-career. But what has been your experience?

I graduated with my bachelor's in HRM and I'm wondering if there are any certifications or trainings I could do before I lock down on the SHRM-CP. I’m mid-level in my HR career at my current company and an upcoming Master’s graduate. Studying for my SHRM-CP too. How did you make the transition to that next level? What skills do you need, or is it really just based on YOE (I am the youngest compared to my teammates, many who have 10+ YOE)? I feel like career pathing is not very clear at my company. I was laid off from a resource management role, working with employees approaching or on the bench, working with managers to staff projects, and support functions like report creation, scheduling, etc. Roles like this are few and many large consulting firms have frozen internal hiring. Do you think it would be beneficial to get a SHRM cert? Would that help get a "talent related" HR role? Worth the money? I have a background in recruitment as well.

How long do you typically allow for self assessments and manager assessments for year-end? This year we gave employees a week and managers 3 weeks (holidays not included), but they still said it wasn’t long enough even though most waited until the very last day to complete them.

Do people proactively begin finding work when they know they may be low on work soon? Or do they just wait until they actually don’t have enough work to fill their days? Have a larger project that is winding down and my main case is slowing down a bit so I anticipate potentially needing to find more work soon, and I was unsure if that was something I needed to worry about.

I see a lot of people condemning others for being critical or harsh towards Leadership at their agency, and I want to know why? We should be holding our Leaders to the highest standards and not feel bad about it, because they do the same to us and we are the ones being laid off or passed over for promotions/raises when we don’t meet their expectations, not them. Because indirectly when we fail, oftentimes it is more of a failure of Leadership than just one individual.

Going through interview process at @ Capgemini for their financial services tech consulting practice (Engagement Director role) and will likely get an offer soon due to the demand. Have a few of ques. 1) what’s the hierarchy in the firm? Is Engagement director role one level below Partner? And is partner and sr director role same? 2) what’s the path to partner like or next level like at Cap? 3) asking for a 25% base pay hike but also keen on waiting for aug 9 comp statement. Should I remove my education date range from my resume ? I’s a bachelors degree from a decent school (non - ivy). I have 5 YOE and just made manager.
