America has to be 1st again. We need to be the 1st country to send a President to the moon, then to Mars, maybe even out of our solar system. There's no telling what we can accomplish! 🖖🚀
In a generation or two ... do you think consultants will have to fly to space to go to clients sites on the Moon or Mars?
Moving across country: big national movers (more $$, theoretically more reliable) or smaller local guys (hungry for biz, half the $$ of big carriers). Both are quoting about the same lead times. Co…
Today is the last day I can come to work until May 18. Spring break and then on April 6 distant Ed PreK style begins. I was really hoping to do distant Ed from Mars in 2030; not from home in 2020!!!
Anybody work at Mars or knows someone who does? Curious about culture and comp for their strategy group. TIA
Is it possible to have multiple interviews at an agency and for them to turn you down because they think your portfolio isn't strong? Or does interviewing mean they already approve of your book?
Anyone know what the culture is like at BDO in the DC area. Just got an offer for audit, and would like to know how good or bad it is.
For consultants who want to go into investing (pe/hf), at how many yoe would we realistically have to quit and move in (without an MBA) before it's too hard? Would 5 or 6 yrs be too late?
Current / Former Accenture Strategy M&A 🐠 Pls advise. Contemplating a move. Pls provide your insight on leadership, team culture & size, growth prospects, projects (DD vs PMI), SM comp range. 🙏
Nerdy question alert: do any of you have suggestions on books/articles that will expand accounting/auditing/general business knowledge? Trying to increase my understanding so I'm a better performer.
Any advice on how to get a 5 this year? This is my first year but I've had great client feedback, they've even emailed partners in my practice thanking me for my work. What else should I be doing?
With intern season coming up, let’s hear some intern horror stories! (Either you as an intern or an intern you worked with)
Anyone like learning about philosophy and stuff? Particularly existentialism, Buddhism, or absurdism?
I promise you, whatever you have to tell me as I sit down with my lunch is not as important as eating my lunch.
This CV-19 situation is really starting to wear me down, and I’m feeling more than a little anxiety. I think most of it is fear of the unknown/uncertainty in my career. Anyone else feeling this?
Are things at EY that bad? Doesn't seem like anyone on here has anything good to say about the firm as a whole.
Did anyone else watch Netflix's Chasing Coral and now they're considering leaving advertising to do some good in the world? Just me?
If have no restrictions to save economy is on one end of spectrum while total quarantine to save lives from covid is on end of other spectrum, where’s the middle ground? This question has been on my mind for weeks. Time to crowdsource this IMO
Who has passed the CPA exam and had trouble getting their work hours verified? I passed all four parts but do not have someone to sign off on 2,000 hours. Need advice.
Thoughts on leaving 6 months prior to manager promotion to have a more consistent schedule and free up time to work on side hustles?
Is it worth intentionally taking a job with no growth/upward mobility but straight 40 hour weeks and pay raise to essentially take a break? I'm extremely burnt out from working 50-55+ hour weeks since March during wfh and am seriously considering this other job to get my life back for a year and then start looking for a high growth position if/when the uncertain job market settles down.
After a week of traveling (or the weekly grind) what motivates you to get off your bum and do something productive with your time during the weekend?
Has anyone researched ROI on buying a rental property for investment vs. putting the down payment in a mutual fund with 5-7% annual growth over a 30 year horizon?
Out of work for the first time in my 30+ years career. Looking for a job in your sixties is no joke. Resume gets me interviews. I’m great at what I do, hoping one hiring mgr will see past my age.
When do we get public transit to seaport?!? This is ridiculous, more clients are popping up over there and it's either ride the Silver line (blargh) and then walk, or just walk it. Can't expense Uber.
Best LinkedIn Recruiter stories? Here's mine of the day: "No, I do not want to leave Big 4 consulting for an entry level sales position with UNCAPPED COMPENSATION". No pyramid schemes!
Had an interview 2 weeks ago that went really well. Haven’t heard a yes or no just emails asking me to stay tuned. What does that mean? Am I on a waiting list?
How long is tenable to remain in-grade without promotion? I'm quite comfortable with my balance of responsibility and remuneration and don't want to go the P/D track.
So real question—I read that Mitch will be presenting measures to raise the legal age to buy cigarettes, presumably in an attempt to curb the number of people negatively impacted by cigarette (cont.)
which side of the hotel bed do you sleep on? closer to the door? I feel like one or the other side is much more common
Every few weeks I plunge into a negative mindset about consulting. I feel that the future seems very bleak and the pressure/WLB isn’t going to get any better - let alone that I honestly miss the in-person team work aspect of this job plus travel perks. Is it really going to get better next year?
does it matter if you apply for more than one time at a company? Assuming diff teams / diff hiring managers?
Moving from a semi monthly to a bi weekly pay frequency. Got a bump at new company, but the paycheck amounts will be almost the same. Yes, 26 vs 24 paychecks, but come on! I want to feel the raise!
