I’m mid-level in my HR career at my current company and an upcoming Master’s graduate. Studying for my SHRM-CP too. How did you make the transition to that next level? What skills do you need, or is it really just based on YOE (I am the youngest compared to my teammates, many who have 10+ YOE)? I feel like career pathing is not very clear at my company. Each time I ask for guidance on this from my manager, I get told they’ll look into it.... would love some external mentorship and thoughts 🙏🏼

Workday HELP! I need an amazing consultant or contact who can help us fix our workday woes. I’m not in charge of workday but I’m determined to fix it. We have massive issues with the complexity and ever changing security/permissions/workflows implemented by our system analysts. Every couple of months it changes and we all have to relearn simple tasks again. The analysts try to blame the users but I know it’s more than that.

How long does it take to get over ptsd from being in a toxic micromanaging environment? I was a top biller and top manager at a large staffing company for five years and was treated like a child. The place was crazy. Six months into my new role I’m still scared to request PTO or afraid that my boss would be mad if she found that I took an afternoon break to walk my dog.
Does anyone have any creative suggestions for providing role clarity within teams. We work diligently to maintain job descriptions and communicate team changes broadly, but our employees are still craving some sort of additional reference point of how positions interact with one another. We have Sharepoint and we’re thinking of putting more job info there next to peoples names and titles. Look forward to suggestions!
I am struggling with the fact that I have 13 years of HR experience in one capacity or another, along with a bachelors degree and my PHR designation yet companies say “I’m not qualified or they ghost me when I apply for HR openings. I am experienced in all aspects of HR. How are people with little to no experience coming right out of college obtaining higher level roles than I have currently? It makes my passion for the field just go away.
If you are feeling sick or something during the day and WFH, do you feel comfortable napping it off and then getting back to work and working late if needed? I have friends that say this is totally normal and okay but I feel weird about it and can never actually rest to feel better if I do lay down
Any thoughts on the best certifications to get in order to help move forward? I have considered the CCP from World at Work, but it’s fairly pricey to get by the time you wrap up everything. I was looking at both SHRM-CP and SPHR. Everyone that I have spoken to has the SHRM, but that’s also only looking at individuals in a small geographic footprint and within 3-4 different companies. I was just offered to get a promoted offer (from AS to VP,AD) at a different company, but I have been wanting to transition off to non-advertising gigs especially pharma. Does it make sense to sign the new offer first and keep searching, or get out when I can out of advertising?
