What’s the one thing you’d want to improve in your industry?
I’d love to see the industry less afraid to own up to what we’re supposed to be good at. Agencies are hired for our expertise in communicating ideas and ability to look at things from an outsider’s perspective. Shying away from that burns out staff and, ironically enough, disappoints clients.
What’s your go-to fun fact during ice breakers?
Some of my earliest professional work is on a hard drive that’s probably collecting dust in a Department of Justice evidence locker somewhere. It was for an on-site freelance gig at a medical marijuana dispensary that eventually was raided by the feds.
What’s the worst mistake you’ve made at work?
Mere hours after getting promoted, someone reached out to me about a wonderful opportunity. As I was still experiencing the high of that promotion, I politely declined. I’ve regretted it ever since, but at least I learned a valuable lesson—always take the interview.

What do you want to drive forward in your community?
NYC got hit hard by the pandemic, so at the moment I’m all about anything that can help. Folks are hurting in very different ways, so I’m encouraging everything from new opportunities being posted to questions about receiving benefits.
What’s one of your favorite convos from Fishbowl?
This thread reflects one of the many reasons I love NYC. None of the replies are bullshitting OP or sugar coating reality. They’re all giving them some perspective or sharing their own personal journey and experiences. Sometimes that’s all you need to keep going.
Are you doing anything else outside of your day job besides encouraging brave and productive conversations in the NYC Advertising bowl?
I’m looking forward to mentoring students and recent graduates for 100 Roses From Concrete’s virtual summer program, G.R.O.W.T.H. I’m lucky to have found my way into this industry, so it’s my way of helping others learn what I wish I knew at their age.
