Tailor your resume to your position. Target the job your applying for or brand yourself in one way.
You should be able to elaborate on each bullet for a couple of minutes in an interview. If you can’t, take it off.
Finally, remember the impression. I understand that you may have worn many hats and been on many projects during your time, but to whoever is reading your resume, < 2 years out of undergrad makes every entry on that resume seem shallow
I have ten years of experience and multiple industries I've been in, got an MBA, and started my own company at one point...I keep it at one page and question anyone who tries for two
One page, only key activities / accomplishments. If you’re doing fed work now those resumes literally include every action, whereas job hunting should focus on highest impact.
I’m assuming that is why you see a lot of super detailed resumes is what I meant. When staffing for gov work, resumes are typically super detailed and multiple pages, since it even includes mundane tasks to beef things up. Since you’re job hunting, distilling that down to 2-3 concise points that illustrate the impact is all that’s needed. With less than 2 years experience, recruiters and interviewed would do a double take at a multi page resume.
“1.4” years
There is a chance some people will see that its more than one page and immediately hit the next button. Don’t take that unnecessary risk
ZS I like the traditional approach, but from talking to few peers, seems like those switching firms 1-2 years out of undergrad think very different? Just looking for someone who recently switched firms in this scenario!
Perhaps. Or it's the same thing posted on every thread. Either way it's pretty old and not super helpful.
1 page no matter what, literally saw my manager scoff at a 3 page resume coming through from someone who graduated in 2017
The amount of pages is becoming iffier. ATS systems will throw your resume out if you dont hit enough or right keywords
Curious, do ATS systems matter if you’re getting a referral or your resume forwarded at partner level anyways ?
If you have two pages for one year of work you are sticking WAY too much on there. Cut it down! Tailor your bullets to what you’re applying to
@BCG1 laminated and delivered via pigeon is my preference actually
I've had seven employers since graduating in 08 so mine is two pages. Yours should not be two pages.
