1+ month into the new gig and not feeling it. Mainly bc of the chemistry with my team. What should I do?

@OP you sound like an instagram post. The point would be money, paying your rent and student loans, having a sense of purpose, being thankful you have a job when a lot of people dont? Jobs suck man, that's what they do. If you think every day is supposed to be "an amazing challenging inspirational journey that scares you" then you are setting yourself up for dumb stuff like "it's been a month and I'm not feeling it." Im not saying people should be miserable. Im saying giving a job one month to impress YOU is petulent and unrealistic.

Maybe stick with it and try to do a good job and not complain and make an effort? Its not all about you and feeling it.

Give them a little more time and a chance. Maybe people need a little more time to warm up to you. Or maybe something happened prior to your arrival that made the team a little cold. I’d give it 6 months before judging your relationships at a new job.

Get them drunk.

40+ hrs/week is a lot of time to spend with people. Ideally you feel like you vibe well with them and could become friends with. It’s definitely premature to feel like you need to consider leaving or anything. I actually think this is a GREAT learning experience - client service, working with senior leaders eventually, working with agency partners and media vendors — they all will require you be able to develop good working relationships.. not because it’d be great to have, but because the job requires it. It takes time, maturity, experience to be able to sort of let go of the chemistry and friendliness and learn to work well with people and get what you need. Six months is a good time frame, though. Focus on the work, being a sponge, asking questions, being good at your job, and getting a good working relationship going vs. leaning on chemistry. So many personalities and styles come together every day to develop good work.

Agree with @bbdo1. Don’t be so selfish. Give it 6 months and do what you can to be a team player

Was in a similar boat. Joined an agency and was a little apprehensive. Culturally very different. They were nice during the interview process. But after the first month I noticed how awful they were to each other. Negativity, cattiness ran rampant. They blamed newcomers for everything. It was so disappointing. I stayed for 6 months and never looked back.

GTFO if you can No one should be miserable. Life’s short

Like others have mentioned, try to stick it out 6 mos, a year if possible (it'll look better on your resume) but if you're feeling miserable and dreading work everyday then maybe it's time to explore another opportunity. If it's just an issue with your team, request an account transition. Hang in there OP.

If you’re not happy and have options to leave, then leave. Leaving before 3 months is okay. If you don’t have other options, then you have to make the best of it.

Everyone's different but I wouldn't even consider leaving a shop before 6 months. Work your ass off and make yourself indispensable and if it's still not working, then leave. Our world is small and if you don't take that approach it could rub a future relationship wrong. This is only my opinion of course.

@bbdo1 I had prior exp in paid search before starting this gig PLUS 4 years of offline media experience. I think I’m in the right when I know something doesn’t fit. Thanks.

It's just a job. I personally don't think 1 month is enough time to assess if you should stay or go. But regardless, it's just a job. You have every right to choose to stay or go. But if you burn bridges, it's your career and reputation you might impact.

Please elaborate on "mainly bc of chemistry with my team". Still lots of unknowns here.

Give it 6 months

Cool, you asked what you should do. Good luck.

Hi, I had my Accenture HR round last Wednesday and everything was discussed, from salary structure to usual HR interview questions. I am yet to receive any communication for further processing including my BGV and rest of the process. I called the HR yesterday and said I will receive further communication. Can someone please tell me if there is a chance that they will send me offer letter or any further processing and if this is normal for Accenture to take time after having HR round?
