Amazing!! I’d wait a few more weeks

Congratulations! 1week PP is a huge milestone for you both.
His bond with the baby is gift enough. Your words of gratitude are important.
An actual gift could set the tone that his involvement is not expected, whereas you guys should rightly be all hands on deck.
Encourage it to continue! These early weeks are incredible for bonding, and IMO, it’s hard to compete with mom-boob-love so let him enjoy the closeness.

Lol he should not need a reward for being a good dad for a week
Agreed. Please don’t reward your partner for just being involved. You were pregnant for 9 months, helping is the least men can do. If anything, he should be getting you a gift.

Congrats!
What does your husband plan to get you as a show of his appreciation for your partnership so far? You can tailor your gift to match that. If it’s “nothing”, then that makes it easy.

I love how expectations for dads are so low that they get presents for just parenting. This is the definition of a participation trophy.

Also I have a friend whose husband has literally never been alone with the kids more than 2-3 hours and refuses to do so. But he can hand them off to grandma and grandpa just fine…. You think someone who can barely stand up without being in pain should be able to handle your children but you can’t? Okay…

😂 thanks for the laughs guys! Duly noted
You gave him a baby….I think that’s the reward….
Agree with prior posts. You might be thrilled with his help now….but as they get older you will neeeeed it…so set expectations today this is expected…not something to be rewarded with a bonus.
Yuuuuuuuup
Unbelievable practical support on this group. Love you gals

There's nothing wrong in appreciating your spouse but the way this post is worded makes it seem like he deserves a gift just for being a dad. The child is also his responsibility ya know. You can give him a bj if you are feeling generous. 😏
I was going to say a kiss. Glad you have a supportive husband, save the gift for later after you're done recovering!
I wrote my husband a letter before the baby was born to say thank you in general as he'd been a rock through fertility issues and a difficult pregnancy. But I write notes and cards etc to him often so this wasn't anything out of the ordinary for us.
Love this, I'm going to steal this for kid #2.

EY1 makes some really good points. I’d suggest a card. (Maybe I’m a cheese ball.) When I feel like my spouse is doing an amazing job at home - or work - I write him a card or letter telling him what I’ve noticed, thanking him and reminding him how proud I am of all he does. Then I slip it somewhere he’ll find on his own. (Usually on the seat of his car or nightstand.) He has more than a decade of these notes in a drawer and I like to think they mean more than a bottle of bourbon or a Solo stove - which also have their place!!
The gift is that you carried the baby for 9 months then gave birth either vaginally or had your body cut open. If you’re breastfeeding, the gift keeps giving!
Wait until the kid I at least 18 years old and if the feelings are still there then get him a Rolex or Porsche Boxster.

Lol
Compliments are enough. You gave him a baby. You should be the one being thanked. If he's a really good dad and husband, give him another one 🐣 🐣
Congratulations to you! I’m always so happy to hear women being supported the way we deserve and need. We’re big on gratitude so we express our thanks in big ways even for things that are expected. 😉
I’m 17 weeks pp… My husband is into sneakers so I bought him his holy grail sneakers as a thank you gift. Maybe get him something he’s been pining after for a long time but never pulled the trigger?
So my SO was phenomenal and I got him a canvas print of our daughter and him to hang in his office.
Damn.
People are much nicer than I am.
My husband was my rock PP since I felt super sad and had some complications from childbirth (minor but tears hurt !)
I have always told him how much that time, his support and his attitude meant to me but could hardly spend mental energy trying to figure out a gift.
