Does he have like a “thing”? What are his hobbies? His habits? Esoteric interests? Does he complain about anything in particular on a regular basis?
As someone who’s a huge gift giver, I feel like gifts are best when they really convey how much you *get* someone or show that you’re paying attention.
Depending on what type of person he is, some things to consider may be:
-an item that solves an issue he deals with or makes his routine more convenient
-something that shows your support for his nerdy interests
-something that shows that you remember the things he’s mentioned or that make him excited
I have a roomie who is a little pompous and likes fancy shit, so dropping money on something materialistic is a super easy way to score. I had an ex though who was profoundly lazy and I bought him this iPad stand that allowed him to lay down while watching movies/playing hearthstone without even having to hold his iPad. I also bought him hearthstone coins. Those were MAJOR hits—more so than the $700 coat I bought him. My dad on the other hand is super practical so I always research things he complains about to find/come up with a solution and buy it for him.
I don’t think so! Those sound like great ideas!! It sounds like he is a very practical person so that might be right up his alley in terms of what he appreciates

Building on your cookware idea I bought my BF really nice knives (Wusthof), a le creuset french oven, and a really good non stick pan and he went from a useless cook to a gourmand and he loves all of them!!
Nice earbuds or headphones? Gaming console?
I was thinking the same but he already had gaming console, earbuds and headphones 😭
A nice watch? Obviously no Rolex because of the price range lol but most guys don’t care about that
I bought my bf an Apple Watch on Valentines - he loves it!! Also something practical could also help.
Another thing I could see is a Dynson hair dryer - believe it or not men use them frequently than women - the hairdryer is amazing and i’ve managed to dry my hair in just minutes. My bf gifted to me for our 1 yr anniversary and he’s been using it on a daily basis too😆
