Hi everyone,
I was wondering if anyone here had inputs on work culture at Stripe? What do benefits look like (couldn’t find specific details on Google). Are they flexible when it comes to attending to family? How is the TechOps role? What is the growth trajectory?

Calculate your TDEE (don’t overestimate exercise, most people do) and start measuring/weighing/tracking your food (I like MyFitnessPal). Aim to eat ~10% less than your TDEE and eat plenty of protein.

If you are comfortable and fit at 195 then I don’t think you need to worry about it. If you’re not, it’s pretty easy to figure out if that 2200 TDEE number is correct by eating 1950 calories/day for a few weeks and calculating if you lose an average of 0.5lbs/week.

OP: Solidarity and I am at 14 month PP in similar situation. I went from size 4 to 18, and going to work last week was nerve racking with everyone telling me they are “shocked” to see me. The good part is you are working towards your goal. In the interim what helped me is these amazing moms on this bowl who uplifted me and gave me confidence. I don’t have any suggestion for you except I understand and going through a similar journey. Vent here as much as you like because many many moms here are wisest and most empathetic people…
I feel the same. I caved and bought new clothes that fit and it made a huge difference to my self esteem. We are giving so much to our babies, we forget to give back to ourselves, and feeing good in clothes that fit is so worth it ❤️
Are you calorie counting? That is the only way to lose weight, you can’t out-exercise a bad diet unfortunately

Try Noom. I’ve been amazed how many women have terrific luck. I’m in middle of moderate luck with it
I had the hardest time dropping weight while BF. It’s not as easy as it seems. You may just have to wait until you’re done to see significant results.
Another suggestion is getting a blood panel work up by your doctor. It could signify thyroid issues and can help troubleshoot.

comfortable in. Any suggestions what can I do? What kind of clothes can I buy? What kind of bras should I invest it?

Can’t find any target jeans that fit nice. Can you share the link of the ones you ordered?

I love you’re approaching this from the perspective of shaking up your wardrobe to feel better about yourself.
I got measured at journelle postpartum and having beautiful, properly fitting bras made me feel great.
Assuming you’re not planning to lose weight, square tops that fit you (not oversized) that hit at the hip and had a collar of sorts always made me feel slim but comfortable.
For flattering casual wear the square hip length hooded zipped top from Coolibar (seaside hoodie) is a great spring/ early summer option.
And for core strength, pilates and reformer pilates are excellent options.

Oh no! My experience was that it was IMPOSSIBLE to even try lose weight while breastfeeding. It’s relentless, your body needs calories - I truly don’t know how others do it. Never ever worked for me.
For a while I used to joke with my SO that I’d have a muscle milk for breakfast, one for lunch, and a real dinner. And yeah it tipped the scale but then, was my milk just synthetic crap? Probably :)
It’s much easier to go aggressive on exercise and things like intermittent fasting once baby has weaned.
You might want to take a look at Sozy. Their whole brand is about soft / comfy clothing, but they have a lot of pretty skirts & dresses so it’s not just loungewear. Also seems like some of the tops may work for breastfeeding too

Going back to work this week at 14 months pp for second kid. Went through all my work clothes and only fit into one ugly skirt and some tops. Went to Kohls and they literally had 1 pair of dress pants in the entire store that fit me (size 12). So I got those and that’ll be what I wear for a few months until I lose some weight. Trying to make a meal plan for myself tonight.
Feels so hard to do with kids and a husband, to eat different from them all the time but it’s time I take this seriously

Not quite PP, but post 15 week loss and subsequent depression. I’m finally coming out of the fog and feeling like myself, but I’m up to a size 12/14 from a 4/6. I said to hell with it and invested in nice pants. I hope not to keep them for very long and will ideally sell (soon!) on Poshmark as gently used, but I wanted clothes that fit - so it was off to MM LaFleur and JCrew for me. Husband isn’t thrilled with the expense, but I’m so much happier and more confident wearing high quality clothes. He even said that one of the pairs of size 12 pants looked sexy on me - it made my month.
Proper diet was more helpful for me than workout only. No specific suggestions on diet as everyone is different
You aren’t alone. Once I Stopped breastfeeding a two year old, I lost some of the weight but it’s been a challenge especially with no time to hit the gym.

Check out Nuuly clothing rental. It's $88 a month and it's helped me get a few options each month that fit my still changing body. For me, I've got 10 lbs still to go so almost everything fits except for work pants and event dresses. I've been using Nuuly to supplement my wardrobe because I don't want to buy things until I'm really sure that these 10 lbs aren't going anywhere.
Also seconded on MyFitnessPal -- calories are sneaky if you're not tracking.
Intermittent fasting worked magic for me. I lost 30lbs pre pregnancy with IF; I gained 30lbs with pregnancy and lost all of it with IF. I slowly worked my way up from 16-8 to 18-6 then to 20-4 and now OMAD (one meal a day). I followed the same routine both times and now I just eat mostly healthy food until I’m full and I don’t really count calories. Other benefits of IF are mind clarity and time saving. I’m sure you can relate that us moms need every second we can get and I find it a lot more convenient to eat once a day vs 3 times.
This is obviously just my experience and it may not work for everyone. I would definitely check with your doctors! I did so both times :)

Some studies were done a little bit back that suggested the skipping breakfast variety of fasting wasn't actually that effective.
The fasting for two full days a week or alternate days was shown to be similar in terms of rate of weight loss, but people felt like they could stick with it longer.
You have to look at what you eat. You can work out for an hour everyday but if you’re eating too much you won’t lose weight.
The amount you eat is what dictates u losing weight, not how much you work out. I’m not big in working out and I made sure to travel what I eat and I was able to lose my post part weight. It’s hard but if you stick to it you’ll get back into it
Check out the group Milky Fitness on Facebook. It’s focused on losing weight while breastfeeding to maintain supply. If you cut too many calories your supply will go down. They have a calorie estimator per your current weight and nursing status. It’s likely that an average of 1 pound weight loss per week is doable while maintaining supply.

Second this - specifically that if you are interested in losing weight while breastfeeding, the math is completely different than if you are not nurturing a human!
Make sure to give yourself some grace - what you are doing, breastfeeding AND just being a mom in general, are a lot of work. You are in no way “failing” by not having gotten back into your pre-pregnancy clothing. If you do decide to do any kind of focused weight loss plan, make sure you diligently track both your food and your exercise. We tend to underestimate our food (that’s probably just a teaspoon of butter, right? Nope, it’s a full tablespoon) and overestimate our exercise. Weigh your food and use a wearable device for your exercise to help get a true picture.
Do you live in the DC/Maryland region?
Check out this gym called Elite Technique 😌They have quite a few locations in MD (Baltimore, Beltsville, Rockville, Largo, and Clinton). I’ve always had trouble losing weight but I used their services about a year ago and lost 25 pounds. You get a personal trainer + meal plan in their package deals and I highly recommend it. I am giving birth next month and plan to go back to them after I am cleared to exercise. Message me if you have any questions!
Hate to even advocate this, but as someone that was in the obese + category and had my primary care dr talk to me about the risks of carrying extra weight, people have used phentermine to curb appetite as so much of it is diet. I’ve used it in the past and it works but you also need to put in the work to truly change habits and mindset
Have your thyroid levels checked including Hashimotos antibodies. I was having trouble loosing the weight as well, despite working out 4-5x per week and strict calorie tracking. I got my blood work done and turns out I had severe hypothyroidism, my TSH levels were through the roof. Now I’m on medication and my levels are back to normal. I also was able to loose 50 pounds of the pregnancy weight I gained and I’m almost back to my pre-pregnancy weight.
No problem! I would get it checked since Hashimoto’s is genetic. My aunt had it too
