Sounds like an annotated comp. keynote, PPT or PDF will do no? Or most people use InVision. You can get one prototype free

Editing a settings screen for the test. Do I mock up my own version with edits? In real life I’d leave notes in quip Or a similar coworking space, how do I replicate that for this test?

What exactly does taking a test mean for the deliverable format? Is it online remote? It'd be easier to understand what freedom you have. In anything you create, be sure to include error and success conditions....if you do, it'll put you at the top of the list
