We did the panorama test. $300 and 99% accurate. Is that an option for you? Not covered by insurance for us but no waaaayyyyyyy I’d pay 3k. That’s crZg

Ohhhhh okay. Thanks so much for this info. I’ll get on it Monday morning.

How old are you? I believe that if you’re younger than 35 yo insurance is not going to cover it. I personally went with the cheaper option(I don’t remember the name), plus, we have low risk in our family for down syndrome 21 (I believe that’s what it was for). Congrats on your pregnancy ❤️

like

No didn’t mean they won’t cover it. I’m waiting to get approved for it however, my doctor is saying I need to take the test by Friday because next week I’ll be at 13 weeks and you’re “supposed” to have the test before 13 weeks.

What is the significance of Friday? I chose not to do either (when I was under 35) because I got good reults (low risk) on the ultrasound (nuchal translucency) which was fully covered by insurance. I would definitely not spend $3k out of pocket unless you are at known high risk (but then I think insurance would cover?) and you know that you would consider terminating the pregnancy based on the results.

Interesting - I can’t find anything to the contrary but my OB told me it really needed to be completed at 13 weeks.

If you are 35 or above, insurance is bound to cover. Your physician has to fill a prior authorization (which most physician or physician offices hate to do) and then insurance will review and accept. Things that might help you: Follow up with your insurance by calling them and explaining that you are 35 and would need to have this test. Follow up with physicians office that they filled the PA. Good luck!

I got the NIPT done without insurance. It was about $150. Talk to someone from labcorp. They have discounted rates if you pay them directly

Insurance also did not cover mine and the test I took was $1k out of pocket BUT I called and explained I was paying directly and they have some program that lowered the cost to $200 which was basically just my deductible. Try calling to see if there’s a discount for self pay!

Which test is that OP? I had NIPT done when I was pregnant last year, it was about $300. didn’t know there was a $3K option!

NIPT is another name for the cell free fetal DNA test. Generally your doctor has a cash price for this test for $200-$300. My doctor told us we will get a bill for a couple thousand (because it is what they bill insurance) but to call them and ask for the cash price.

How are folks thinking about permanent life insurance? 45, making let’s say for example (not my exact numbers): $1M per year, not yet vested in pension. Was thinking need to replace the post tax take home, about $550k NPV’ed at 5% to age 55, so that’s like $3.2M. Maybe pension is worth $2.5M so I think that means I should have $5.7 total you want death to have no financial impact. Also was going to do $1M of that in perm w/ LTC rider. Sound right?

What are your success stories about succession planning? I was hired as a lateral to work on/help sustain a retiring partner's book of business. During my interview in 2017, he said his target retirement would be 2019-2021. Now, after a good 2020 (for our practice area), he mused that he might not retire until 2025. I don't want him to feel pushed out, and have a lot to learn from him, but I do want to help/plan handoff of work. Interested in guidance for how to have these conversations!
