The different of AT MOST 15 hours per week should hopefully not make or break your ability to be with and help your partner with the kids.
The extra 30k could potentially support additional services to actually make your life better/easier and focus on quality time.
170k
But also send the other offer my way, please and thank you
Sorry no offense, but I see this all the time. if you are in the bracket of 150 -170, one should be a good decision maker and know to live by your decisions rather then crowd sourcing such questions which lot of people just know very little about your personal situation/goals/ambitions.
The one who you should really discuss about this is your spouse.
Maybe they just want to hear some factors they might not have thought about otherwise

170k
170k no brainer. 40-50hours/week is no different from 35-45hours/week
A little wisdom from my favorite series…
Love that show!!
If single earner means your spouse is comfortable with supporting the extra hours, then 170k for sure.
One assumption is if the spouse doesn't work, there may not be childcare costs... That's how it is in my house

Well shit both sound fantastic lol.
I’d go with 170
How is this even a question? Just a 5 hour/week difference and a difference of 25k. That’s huge!
I personally have WLB as my #1 criteria but this decision is easy. Would have been a tough call had this been a 170k with 60-65 hours/week job. Then, would have picked 145k easy!
Do you have any prospects outside of chicago? Between taxes, mortgage, insurance, and retirement your discretionary income isn’t that high.
Chicago isn’t that expensive
40-50 is still decent WLB so will go with 170k
PS the +25k is really more like +17k after tax, so extra 1.5K per month. I’d ask myself, is 20 hours/month worth the money? It’s almost like 3 extra workdays for $1,500. Ain’t bad, but then it is 3 days of work, which you could spend with kids or build a business on the side. Time is scarce commodity my friend, so choose wisely.
The hours difference seems small and pay difference seems large-r…so 170k for me dawg

Offer #2 at $170k. Congrats!
Assuming they have similar career trajectories, I’d take the 170k. But you need to consider all aspects of potential new jib
I’ll take whichever one you aren’t going to use

So, we’re talking about adding an average of 5 hours a week (Assuming this; not actually enough information to make this conclusion)? Yea, go with the 170k.
You take the 170 and give me the other one. I’ll buy you a dinner at La scarola. Deal?
Hopping on the 170 bandwagon
take the 145k and ask your wife to work too! Then help out with the kiddos more :), so wifey can have a career! Equality!
I'd look at comp trajectory in either role too, but heavy preference for more comp in most situations
