How hard is the CFE exam? Worth the price?
Are there any recruiters from IBM who have information on their apprenticeship program (Soft Eng)? I have applied and my application is under review. How much knowledge/skill set does one actually need to get into the new collar program? From what I have gathered online, it's kind of a mixed bag and can take a long time to onboard someone. I am self taught, know the basics of two languages and have some small projects to show. Just wondering if there is anyone that has been through this process.

ECD salary in NYC?
15 and no offer is not great tbh. To frame it another way, think of the shortlist of candidates who are granted interviews for a given role. Maybe 5 or 6, or even 10? Stats wise, you should at least be getting 1 offer for every 10 interviews. If your batting average is worse than that, it’s a you issue, not a numbers issue.
But what if you are also accepting interview and role that comes to you? If you are just saying yes to everything even if is different to what you are doing from those 15 interviews you could have just been a good fit for 3 of the places.
Agree with SA1 that it is a numbers game. So please don’t be discouraged. It’s definitely not you, it’s the way things are.
This might offer some helpful insight… I had an interview earlier today, for a job that I applied to over two months ago.
I asked what caused the delay in reaching out to me - was it not a priority to fill the role, were they dissatisfied with the candidates they did reach out to, or something else?
They told me they were in final~ish talks with two or three other candidates that they could *easily* pull the trigger on right now, along with a handful of other candidates they’re in initial talks with, but they’re still talking to people and seeing who’s out there.
I was told by my recruiter that I’m the top candidate at this other place I interviewed with a couple weeks ago. However, they’re still set on doing their due diligence and meeting with more candidates before they make their decision - even though, I was told, they have yet to meet with anyone else that they like better than me.
Companies are fickle af and noncommittal right now. Some are so worried about making the wrong decision, that they’re either making no decision or they’re overthinking it to the point that they hyper focus on some issue, yet still end up making the wrong decisions in the end. I’ve seen many roles filled and then 6-10 months later it’s posted again.

Only 15? That seems low. It's a numbers game.
Keep insisting. It's a bit of the market right now, with the right job for you coming soon! Good luck 💕🍀💕🍀
Between 2018 and 2021 I probably had 150 interviews. I accepted 2 jobs, but never stopped looking for something that actually made sense for me. Finally third offer made sense.
A few tips: follow recruiters on social. They give interviewing tips. Watch YouTube videos on great answers for the most asked questions. Prepare interesting stories about your projects and their production. Show enthusiasm (fake it) for what you’d be selling. Ask thoughtful questions about the culture, the team, the clients. Lots of managers struggle to interview and short answers frustrate them when they’re just trying to get to know you as a colleague. Be prepared to make a little small talk (“I just saw red lasso is ending after 3 seasons, and I’m legit sad” or whatever you know all creatives love). Also give yourself some grace - you don’t have to be everyone’s cup of tea. If you don’t have a little chemistry with an interviewer, maybe the job isn’t a fit. There are a billion candidates for every job, we have been graduating too many portfolio grads every year for 15 years for the industry to absorb. Lastly, it’s a numbers game. Maybe you’re the second choice in a tight race for all the jobs. I frequently recommend my second choices to industry colleagues who are hiring. Hang in there.
I’m right there with you. Multiple rounds, projects, good feedback and then the ominous “we are pursuing other candidates …” if anything at all. If I’m pitching this hard I’m just going back to freelance
How do you feel that the interviews went? Are you confident in your portfolio?

How adamantly are you interviewing? I feel as though I’m in a similar boat and have thought about posting almost the same question on here many times. Meanwhile, I’ve been getting steady work with people I like, but the work isn’t all that fulfilling. It’s fine. But, it’s at a good company. I keep applying to jobs and interviewing, sometimes quite far, but can’t say there’s been much I’ve really been into. Into enough to want to leave my current situation for that is.
Ask how you can improve your book - that way you’re opening up the idea that there’s room for improvement and you can learn a lot from the answers.

I get a ton of interest in me (killer book!, love your work etc) I get on a call, then 💨👻 Every. Single. Time.
Now realize it’s my age. Gotta make peace with it I guess.
