Tax deferred retirement vehicles, such as a traditional 401(k) (NOT Roth), is one of the best vehicle in the wealth accumulation phase. They immediately lower your current marginal income tax rate. There are ways to access those funds early, without paying penalty.
If you're not, try maxing out HSA. They are the ultimate tax efficient instruments. Contribution is pre-tax, growth is tax free, and distribution for eligible expenses are not taxed.

Nope that’s totally fine. pretty sensible when you consider the tax benefits. I’m about $55k in retirement, $30k in savings.
Not necessarily planning to retire super young as I need work to keep me going; just would like to be set by the time I’m 50 so I can “retire” if I want!

Renting now. Goal to own / have kids within 10 years. I’m in a HCOL area (would be looking at 800K+ for a single family home in the suburbs or 600K+ for a 1-bedroom in the city).
