163j question: why does the instructions say to add investment income from K1 if you’re a corporation as an “other addition” to ATI when the regs say to subtract it? Am I missing something?

Enter as a negative amount and then subtract it from the original balance and viola it’s an addback 🤷🏻‍♂️

What would be your advice if someone asked: “I’m debating right now on buying a car or moving to the city close to a metro station so that I maybe won’t need to buy a car for awhile. I plan to buy a car at some point but I figured rent is so expensive that if I get a place close to a metro I won’t need to worry about it. But what I was going to ask you is do you think there’s a “good time” to sign a lease ? I work in Arlington but I’d like to be in DC. I’m looking for a 1br 1bath. “

Are ARK funds' inflows propping up the underlying stocks prices?
Can someone tell me if I understand this correctly? Let's use ARKG as an example. PACB is 6.54% of fund. If the fund takes in a billion in the next week, they'll deploy somewhere around 6% of that into PACB to stay on % target. $60 million gets invested over the month into PACB. Volume in PACB in December was 34.2m shares at ~$30 for a total of 1 billion volume. ARKG took in over 400m in one day during December...

Looking to buy my first house, and clueless on how much money I “actually” have post-tax to use on a place. Please help!

220K Annual Salary 30K Bonus. 65K in Stocks, 110K in 401K, 40K in Savings Accounts. I can borrow 50% against my 401K right? But is that taxed? How much $$ can I reasonably pay for a home? (I also owe 135K in student loans) Thanks in advance!!!

Will be moving to the Bay area for a new job which pays a bit under 200k. I know SF is very expensive so just trying to gauge what would be a reasonable amount to spend on rent. I have no debt and decent savings. Bringing my car with me and will be commuting to Marin most days, but looking to live in SF. Otherwise tend to be fairly frugal and like to cook.

Any thoughts/suggestions are greatly appreciated!

I’m a 32 yo single male, 390k/yr annual compensation, live in Manhattan. Here is my post tax annual spending - is my discretionary too high?
- 40% to savings and investments
- 20% student loan payments
- 2% money home to parents
- 14% fixed expenses (eg rent, utilities, food, etc)
- 24% discretionary (eg trips, going out, etc)

Know this is totally dependent on personal circumstances, goals, desired lifestyle, etc but would be great to get feedback to better my habits. Thanks!

If anyone is thinking about going on flex time, I would highly recommend it. It might not work for everyone, but my experience has been a positive one. I took a 20% pay cut along with 20% reduced hours. I am able to support my family with that income and my firm respects my limited hours, but I still need to plan to make sure I can complete tasks in my reduced hours too. Anyways, if you like what you do, but don’t like the long hours and can take a pay cut, I would do it.
