In my experience the nerdier crowd has either turned out very successful or wildly unsuccessful and the exact same goes for the cool kid assholes (who I tended to be associated with at the time), 2.1 gpa high school douchbags turn into millionaire bankers just as often as high school summa cum laude full academic scholarship to Ivy League kids turn into drop outs...I've always tried to maintain bridges with both crowds because who knows who the fuck you're gonna work with
I wasn't picked on or bullied but always excluded from things because I'm always the nerdy, know it all with glasses. Doesn't help that I like sports but too short and too scrawny. I would play hard and try my best but I'm average at best so given my unpopular standing and unsporting physical appearance I'm always last to be picked for teams.
So years later to now, we have these cool people being:
- several insurance / real estate agents (these two guys reached out for coffee not too long ago because they came across my IG and noticed I'm constantly travelling and thought I probably can afford insurance or buy a house from them)
- FedEx warehouse handler
- many retail workers and living with parents (but one now owns a frozen yogurt franchise so good on him)
- career waitress (we were ok friends but more like she wanted help on homework more than anything)
- stripper (this girl not only turned me down for high school dance but made it a point to tell everyone I asked and everyone in my grade laughed at me for the next 3 months)
When I was an exchange student in the Netherlands in high school, I had a crush on this cute guy. I was back in the Netherlands for client work in 2009 and he happened to be a bell boy at the Marriott I stayed in.
One guy is a barista at Starbucks
The "it" girl and you ended up at Accenture ? 🤔🤔
Coolest guy in HS is pouring asphalt for a living. Love being the nerd
I was cool then and I am still cool, so stick that in your pipe and smoke it. Word
There is no nobility in being superior to others. True nobility comes from being superior to oneself. I read this in a t-shirt or in Kingsman movie.
Of my group of friends, 2 are starting at Wharton this fall, 1 is starting at Booth, another works at Tesla, another is a CEO for a wildly successful online retail startup, another works for Microsoft, one for Google, one is starting school at Columbia, three are doctors from top med schools.
Of people I wasn't particularly fond of - they're all still in my small suburbian home town living with their parents. Honestly.
One of mine works at my current client and we're offshoring her job 😂
My bully works at the local liquor store in my hometown, head cashier....he'll get to corporate in no time
He got a PhD and married a hot Spanish girl. I am utterly baffled by this turn of events.
"Most beautiful" lol
You are sooooo beautifulllllllll girllllll
Is an "it" girl, a girl? 🤔🤔
all of them turned out to be assistant football coaches at rival high schools. should be made a movie
I became a Management Consultant and am now bullying my staff. Kidding aside, I did reach out to people I was an asshole to and apologized for my behaviour. Some of the needier guys have become some of my best friends.
Coolest badass girl in HS is head of marketing in a firm.. Well I guess I went to a nerd school
Yea you're the guy no one wants to work with... Sorry
@upintheair, you deserve that username. In a good way.
I was the "it" girl. Class favorite - most likely to succeed - most beautiful... Etc and the deal is - it's a lot of pressure. I always feel like everyone is just waiting for me to fail. Some girls -
Just hoping for it and write stuff just like above. Would have much preferred to have just been the girl no one noticed in high school.
